New Delhi: The mood of the weather is going to change across the country including Delhi-NCR. While the scorching heat will continue in Delhi, the monsoon will advance in the southern states. The Meteorological Department has released the weather forecast for the next 7 days. According to this, heat and heat will trouble people in entire North India including Delhi next week as well. However, the Meteorological Department has also predicted rain at some places. At the same time, monsoon has knocked in the states of South and North. What changes will happen in the weather across the country in the next 7 days? Let us tell you.There will be no relief from the heat right now
The Meteorological Department has issued a weather forecast for the next two weeks. According to IMD, next week, the temperature is likely to remain between 42 to 46 degree Celsius in most parts of western Rajasthan, parts of Madhya Pradesh, eastern Madhya Pradesh, eastern Uttar Pradesh, Jharkhand, some areas of Odisha, western Uttar Pradesh, many areas of Vidarbha. The same may happen in some parts of Bihar, Chhattisgarh. Heat wave may also prevail in some areas of Maharashtra, Telangana and Andhra Pradesh. Let us tell you that the temperature is expected to be 3 to 6 degree Celsius higher than normal in many areas of northwest India and some parts of central and eastern India. In the early days of next week, the maximum temperature in northwest and central India is likely to fall by 2 to 4 degree Celsius, after which the temperature may fall. There is no possibility of any significant change in the maximum temperature in eastern India in the next 2 days, but after that the temperature may fall by 2 to 3 degree Celsius.

Maximum temperatures may increase by 2 to 3 degrees Celsius in Maharashtra and South India in the first half of the week, but there is no possibility of any significant change in temperature thereafter. No significant change in maximum temperatures is expected in the rest of the country. However, heatwave conditions are likely to gradually decrease from today i.e. 30 May 2024 in northwest and central India except some areas.

Now get ready for hot nights and humid summer
The Meteorological Department has issued a warning of hot nights and humid weather with heatwaves next week as well. According to the IMD, severe heatwaves will prevail in parts of Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh, Delhi, Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh and Bihar. The situation will gradually improve after May 30 in some areas of Jharkhand, Odisha. However, heatwaves may persist in some areas till June 1, 2024. Heatwave conditions are likely to persist in some areas of Madhya Pradesh, Vidarbha, Uttarakhand on May 30 and 31, Chhattisgarh, Jammu division and Himachal Pradesh on May 30, 2024. Punjab, Haryana-Chandigarh-Delhi, Bihar, Odisha may experience hot nights between May 30 and June 1.

The arrival of monsoon
Today, the Southwest Monsoon has advanced over Kerala and most parts of Northeast India including entire Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, Arunachal Pradesh and Tripura, most parts of Meghalaya and Assam. Also, the Southwest Monsoon has advanced into rest of Southwest Arabian Sea, some parts of West Central Arabian Sea, most parts of Southeast Arabian Sea and Lakshadweep area, most parts of Kerala, Mahe, some parts of South Tamil Nadu, remaining parts of Maldives and Comorin area. Besides, it has also advanced over most parts of Northeast India including some more parts of Northeast Bay of Bengal.

How will the monsoon progress?
According to the Meteorological Department, there are favorable conditions for further expansion of the southwest monsoon in the coming 2-3 days. Monsoon is expected to arrive in these areas:

  • Some more parts of the central Arabian Sea.
  • Remaining parts of the South Arabian Sea.
  • Lakshadweep area and parts of Kerala.
  • Parts of Karnataka.
  • Some more parts of Tamil Nadu.
  • Southwest and central Bay of Bengal.
  • Rest of northeastern Bay of Bengal.
  • Assam and Meghalaya.
  • Sub-Himalayan West Bengal and parts of Sikkim.
  • During the rest of the week, the southwest monsoon is likely to spread over the remaining parts of South India and some more areas of East India.

Monsoon and rain alert
There is a cyclone alert in and around Northeast Assam. Strong winds are blowing from the Bay of Bengal towards the northeastern states. Due to their effect, light to moderate rains with thunder, lightning and strong winds (30-40 kmph) may occur in Arunachal Pradesh, Assam and Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram and Tripura and Sub-Himalayan West Bengal and Sikkim in the coming week. Heavy to very heavy rainfall is also likely at some places. Heavy/very heavy rains are likely at isolated places in Arunachal Pradesh, Assam and Meghalaya, Sub-Himalayan West Bengal and Sikkim throughout the week. At the same time, heavy rains may occur at isolated places in Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram and Tripura on 30 and 31 May 2024.

When will the monsoon arrive in eastern and central India?
A disturbance is also present over and around northwest Uttar Pradesh. Under its influence, Bihar, Jharkhand, Gangetic West Bengal, Odisha and Chhattisgarh may receive light to moderate rainfall with thunderstorms, lightning and strong winds (30-40 kmph) in the coming week. Madhya Pradesh, Vidarbha, Madhya Maharashtra and Marathwada are likely to receive light to moderate rainfall at some places during June 1-3.

Light to moderate rains with thunderstorms, lightning and gusty winds (30-40 kmph) are likely over Kerala, Lakshadweep, Andaman & Nicobar Islands, Karnataka during the next few days. Tamil Nadu, Puducherry & Karaikal, Andhra Pradesh, Telangana and Rayalaseema may receive light to moderate rains at isolated places during the coming week. Heavy to very heavy rains are likely over Kerala and Mahe on most days of the coming week. Isolated heavy rains are likely over Lakshadweep on 30th May, Andaman & Nicobar Islands during 31st May to 2nd June and over interior Tamil Nadu and South Karnataka during 1st-3rd June 2024. Strong winds with speed reaching 30-40 kmph are likely over coastal Andhra Pradesh and Yanam, Rayalaseema and Karnataka during 31st May to 3rd June.

Rain in northwest India
A western disturbance is also present in and around Jammu. Under its influence, light to moderate rains with thunderstorms and lightning may occur in Jammu and Kashmir, Ladakh, Gilgit-Baltistan-Muzaffarabad, Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand in the early days of the week. Very light/light rains with thunderstorms and lightning are likely in the plains of North-West India in the first half of the week.
