“We have to save TikTok…we don’t want to give our business to China”: Trump at MAGA victory rally


Hours before his/her inauguration, President-elect Donald Trump said he/she had agreed to “approve” TikTok on the condition that it “save” American jobs and prevent “our business” from going to the communists. The United States will keep 50 percent of the Chinese app. Nation.

Earlier, the Chinese short-form video service app had expressed gratitude to Trump for “providing necessary clarity and assurance” and confirmed that it would be operating in the United States after Trump promised to restore access to TikTok. Speaking at the Make America Great Again (MAGA) victory rally at Capital One Arena, Trump said, “We need to save TikTok because we need to save a lot of jobs. We do not want to give our business to China… I agreed to approve TikTok on the condition that America would have 50 percent stake in TikTok…”

Furthermore, he/she also highlighted the impact of his/her leadership, referring to it as the “Trump effect”, which he/she said had led to unexpected results even before he/she took office.

“Even before taking charge, you are seeing results that no one expected. Everyone is calling it the ‘Trump Effect’. This is you. You are influence,” Trump told rally attendees.

“We are going to restore patriotism in our schools, drive out radical leftist and woke ideologies from our military and government. We’re going to make America great again,” he/she said.

In a statement outlining his/her vision for the future, Trump promised to usher in a new era of American strength and prosperity.

Speaking to supporters, Trump said, “We’re going to make our country greater than ever before… We’re going to take our country back tomorrow at noon (referring to his/her Inauguration Day as the 47th US President happened). The curtain has closed on 4 long years of American decline and we begin a new day of American strength and prosperity, dignity and pride.

Trump reiterated his/her commitment to dismantling the current political structure, saying, “We are going to end the rule of a failed, corrupt political establishment once and for all… We are not going to take it any longer.”

Earlier in the day, Trump announced on Truth Social that he/she plans to issue an executive order on Monday to delay implementing the TikTok ban.

“I’m telling companies not to let TikTok remain in the dark! “I will issue an executive order on Monday to extend the period of time before the law’s prohibitions take effect so we can reach an agreement to protect our national security,” he/she said.

“The order will also confirm that there will be no liability for any company that helped TikTok go dark before my order. Americans deserve to see our exciting inauguration on Monday, as well as other events and conversations.”

Additionally, he/she outlined a proposal for the US to have a 50 percent ownership stake in a joint venture involving TikTok.

The ban follows a Supreme Court ruling on Friday upholding a law passed with bipartisan support in Congress and signed by US President Joe Biden in April.
