We are like migratory birds who go away after doing their work… CJI Chandrachud became emotional in his/her farewell speech.

New Delhi: Chief Justice DY Chandrachud is retiring on November 10, but Friday was his/her last working day on the Supreme Court bench. During this, in his/her farewell remarks he/she expressed gratitude for his/her long journey in the judicial system. he/she said that we are like pilgrims here. Like migratory birds for a short time, they do their work and go away.Mara’s work is to leave his/her mark in the institute – CJI
Chief Justice DY Chandrachud sat on the bench of court number one and also gave many decisions. After this he/she said that he/she has deep faith in the upcoming Chief Justice Sanjeev Khanna. Justice Khanna is taking oath as Chief Justice on November 11. In his/her farewell remarks he/she said that our job is to leave our mark in the institute. No one is important enough to think that the court cannot function without him/her. Many great justices came here and fulfilled their responsibilities and then passed on the responsibility to their next generation. People with different viewpoints come here and then leave their legacy to the next generation.

he/she also said that he/she is confident that his/her departure from here will not have any impact on the court. I also know that the justices who will come after my departure are very dignified and strong personalities. Justice Khanna remains aware of every point of view. There was continuous applause from the Bar during the speech of the Chief Justice at his/her farewell ceremony.

What did Solicitor General Tushar Mehta say?
During this, Solicitor General Tushar Mehta said that it is difficult to say anything at this time, but I want to say that there was never such hesitation that we could not express our views. The Chief Justice always played his/her role as the head of the judicial family. You will always be remembered. During this, Supreme Court Bar Association President Kapil Sibal said that I have worked in the Supreme Court for 52 years, but I have never seen a justice with such patience. You reach communities that haven’t been heard before. You accepted the challenges head on. There will be no other Chief Justice like you.

Senior Advocate KK Venugopal said that when Justice YV Chandrachud (father of Chief Justice DY Chandrachud) had asked him/her whether his/her son should pursue law or choose judicial services? Then I suggested that he/she should stay at the bar, he/she would go to the top, but you accepted to become a judge. If my advice had been followed, we would have lost a great Chief Justice. During this time the family members of the Chief Justice were also present. he/she was sworn in as Chief Justice on 9 November 2022. his/her tenure has been for two years and he/she will retire on November 10.

-Been a part of the bench which gave the decision in the Ram Mandir case.
-Centre’s decision to abrogate Article 370 was upheld
Unnatural consensual sex between homosexuals has been decriminalized.
-Right to privacy is a fundamental right decision
-Adultery law was rejected as unconstitutional
