Was Hamas’ top leader Yahya Sinwar killed in Israeli attack, know what happened in the operation in Gaza

New Delhi: The Israeli Defense Forces have issued a statement saying that ‘three terrorists have been killed during the operation in the Gaza Strip and we are investigating whether Yahya Sinwar is also included in them’. The Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) said that their identities could not be confirmed yet. The IDF said that ‘there were no signs of the presence of hostages in the building where the terrorists were killed’.

Last year a conspiracy was hatched to attack Israel

Yahya Sinwar is considered to be the mastermind of the attack on Israel by Hamas on October 7 last year. When Hamas attacked Israel on October 7, more than 1,200 Israelis were killed and more than 250 were taken hostage.

remained in Israeli prison for two decades

Sinwar was called ‘the butcher of Khan Yunis’. Sinwar is said to have tortured and killed suspected Palestinian informants for Israel while he/she was the head of Hamas’ internal security service. Sinwar had to spend more than two decades in an Israeli prison for his/her involvement in the killing of two Israeli soldiers. Sinwar was released under a plea deal in 2011.

Israeli court had sentenced life imprisonment

According to Sinwar’s profile, in the early 1980s, Sinwar was arrested several times by Israel for his/her involvement in anti-Israel activities at the Islamic University of Gaza. Sinwar became an important leader of Hamas in 1987. The very next year, Israel arrested Sinwar and sentenced him/her to life imprisonment for four murders.

Sinwar spent 23 years in an Israeli prison. While in prison, Sinwar is said to have learned Hebrew and gained a good understanding of Israeli affairs and domestic politics. Sinwar’s stature in Hamas increased further. America has also declared Sinwar a global terrorist.
