War has broken out over medical education in Delhi! Doctors are furious over the government’s new decision, said- ‘We will not tolerate slavery’

A war has broken out between the government and the doctor’s association over medical studies in Delhi. On Wednesday, as soon as LG Delhi’s new order came on courses like MBBS, MD, MS, the medical fraternity was filled with anger. Federation of All India Medical Association (FAIMA) expressed its anger by tweeting. FAIMA member and orthopedic surgeon Dr. Rohan Krishnan tweeted and called this order a move to make doctors slaves. But why so much anger? What has happened? Is this decision against the interests of medical students? Understand.

What is the government’s decision on medical studies in Delhi?

In fact, Well After clearing the exam, a bond policy has been made for the students studying in medical colleges of Delhi. Under this, the students will have to serve in the government hospitals of Delhi for one year after the completion of the course. If any medical student does not want to complete this service bond, then he/she will have to pay a fine of lakhs of rupees.

An order has been issued by the Health and Family Welfare in this regard. According to this, the Lieutenant Governor of Delhi has ordered to implement a mandatory service bond of one year for all All India Quota and State Quota UG and PG medical students studying in medical institutions. During this period, MBBS students will be appointed as Junior Residents and PG students will be appointed as Senior Residents. The prescribed salary will also be given.

For this, MBBS students will have to deposit a bond of Rs 15 lakh at the time of admission and MD, MS students will have to deposit a bond of Rs 20 lakh. If the student does not want to serve after the completion of the course, then this deposit amount will be confiscated.

The government says that the students will be appointed in PHCs and society hospitals. Additional JR/SR posts can be created as per the need. This bond will be applicable from the next academic session.

Why is the medical association protesting?

According to FIMA member Dr. Rohan Krishnan, students from different states come to Delhi to study medicine. For many years, students have been running a campaign to end the bond policy. Now this policy has been implemented in Delhi as well. Whereas, according to the guidelines of the National Medical Council (NMC), there should be no bond policy anywhere. This is the government’s will, due to which resident doctors will face problems.

he/she said that the most shocking thing is that after passing out from a hospital like Lok Nayak, the students will be sent to a small centre like PHC (Primary Health Centre), which is wrong. We protest against this. Recently, the Delhi government had conducted a screening of hospitals, in which it was found that there is a shortage of doctors in Delhi hospitals. The number of doctors in hospitals should be increased. Such arrangements should not be made.
