Waqf Board Meeting: I did not intend to throw the bottle… Why was there ruckus in the JPC meeting, TMC MP Kalyan Banerjee told

New Delhi: There was a clash between BJP MP Abhijit Gangopadhyay and TMC MP Kalyan Banerjee in the meeting called to discuss the Waqf (Amendment) Bill 2024. In which Kalyan Banerjee also suffered injuries. Now the statement of TMC MP Kalyan Banerjee has come out on this matter.

‘Abused my family’

TMC MP Kalyan Banerjee said that I respect the rules very much, Abhijit Gangopadhyay had made some allegations against me in front of the press in violation of the rules. When I asked him/her about this, he/she started abusing my family (mother, wife and father). When I reacted, he/she said that he/she would hit me and he/she got up from his/her chair and came towards me.

‘I even said sorry four times’

After that, when the president came and asked me to remain calm, I got angry and threw the bottle on the table. Due to which my hand got hurt. When my hand started bleeding, I dropped the bottle and it rolled away. I did not intend to throw the bottle at the Chairman. I even apologized to him/her four times for this.

Let us tell you that this is not the first time that TMC MP Kalyan Banerjee has been in controversies before also. Earlier, Kalyan Banerjee’s name had also come up in the case of mimicry of Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar. At the end of last year, during the Parliament session, he/she mimicked Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar, after which he/she had to face a lot of criticism. Let us tell you that Kalyan Banerjee had mimicked Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar while condemning the suspension of MPs.
