Voting for the seventh and final phase of Lok Sabha elections today, where will votes be cast, which big names are in the fray?

New Delhi: Voting will be held today for the last 7th phase of the Lok Sabha elections 2024 held in seven phases in the country. With this, voting will be held for 57 Lok Sabha seats in eight states in the last phase of the world’s longest marathon electoral process. 904 candidates have entered the electoral fray in this phase. After the voting of all seven phases is over, the counting of votes will be done on June 4. The commission has completed preparations for this. Voting will start at 7 am.

The Election Commission of India said that in the final phase, votes will be cast for all 13 Lok Sabha seats of Punjab, four of Himachal Pradesh and one of Chandigarh. Apart from these, voting will be held for the remaining eight seats of Bihar, three of Jharkhand, five of Odisha, 13 of Uttar Pradesh and the remaining nine seats of West Bengal. The commission said that for the final phase, a maximum of 598 nomination papers were filed for 13 seats of Punjab. After this, 495 nomination papers were received for 13 seats of UP, maximum 73 from Jehanabad seat of Bihar and 70 nomination papers were received from Ludhiana seat of Punjab. Now an average of 16 candidates are trying their luck on all the seats for this phase. So far, voting has been done for 486 out of 543 Lok Sabha seats in six phases. Voting has also ended in 28 out of 36 states and union territories.

Important information about the last phase of voting

  • The number of voters for this phase is 10 crore 6 lakh voters
  • These include 5 crore 24 lakh male, 4 crore 82 lakh female and 3574 third gender voters.
  • Polling Station- one lakh nine thousand
  • 10 lakh 90 thousand polling officers
  • To transport polling and security personnel, 13 special trains and eight helicopter flights were used in Himachal Pradesh.
  • 172 observers, including 64 general, 31 police and 76 expenditure observers
  • 2707 Flying Squad to take action against any kind of inducement to voters
  • 1080 surveillance team, 560 video viewing team
