Voted in favor of 10, kept distance from 3 Gaza resolutions, Jaishankar told India’s stand on India-Palestine issue

New Delhi: External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar spoke in the Parliament on India’s stand on the Israel-Palestine issue. he/she said that India is a supporter of a two-nation solution to the Israel-Palestine issue. Jaishankar told in the Rajya Sabha that India has supported 10 out of 13 resolutions on Palestine in the UNGA. India is also sending humanitarian aid to Palestine. Prime Minister Modi has also spoken to many world leaders on this issue.

Foreign Minister told India’s stand in Parliament

S Jaishankar told during Question Hour in Rajya Sabha that India is in favor of living with both Israel and Palestine as an independent and secure country. he/she said this in response to the claim that India was absent on all UN resolutions. he/she clarified that since October 7, 13 resolutions on Palestine have come to UNGA. Of these, India has supported 10 and abstained on 3.

‘India in support of two-nation solution’

Jaishankar said, ‘India’s policy towards Palestine has been going on for a long time. We have always been in favor of a negotiated two-nation solution. We want an independent and secure Palestinian state living in peace with Israel. he/she gave this statement when asked a question about India’s voting in UNGA.

‘Provided humanitarian aid to Palestine’

India has also provided humanitarian assistance to Palestine. This includes approximately 70 metric tons of aid. This also includes 16.5 metric tons of medicines and medical items. Apart from this, India has also provided financial assistance of 5 million dollars to UNRWA. This is equal to the help given in 2023. In October and November 2024, 65 tons of medical goods were sent to UNRWA and the Palestinian Ministry of Health.

The Ministry of External Affairs said in a statement that India is making a lot of efforts for peace in this region. Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Jaishankar have spoken to leaders of many countries. It also includes the leaders of Israel and Palestine. PM Modi met Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas during the ‘Summit of the Future’ in New York on September 22. he/she insisted on a ceasefire, release of hostages and resumption of negotiations. India has also presented its stand in international forums like United Nations, BRICS, NAM and Voice of Global South. India believes that this problem will be solved only through dialogue.
