Virat Kohli out of ICC’s T20 WC ‘Team of the Tournament’, what is the reason

New Delhi. The Indian team made its mark in the ICC T20 World Cup. Team India created history by winning the trophy without losing a single match. No team had been able to do such a feat before. The team captained by Rohit Sharma won a thrilling match against South Africa in the final in which the match was slipping out of hand. The ICC selected the team after the tournament ended in which Virat Kohli, who was selected as the Player of the Match in the final, was not given a place.

ICC has announced its Team of the Tournament, whose captaincy has been given to world champion Rohit Sharma but Virat Kohli did not get a place. 6 players including Rohit Sharma, captain of the Indian team that won the T20 World Cup by defeating South Africa, have been given a place. Suryakumar Yadav, Hardik Pandya, Axar Patel, Jaspreet Bumrah, Arshdeep Singh are in the team. 3 players from Afghanistan, 1 player each from West Indies, Australia and South Africa have been included in this team.

Why was Virat Kohli out?
Virat Kohli, who was selected as the Player of the Match after playing a match-winning innings in the T20 World Cup final, was not given a place in the Team of the Tournament. The reason behind this was his/her poor form during the entire tournament. Apart from playing an innings of 76 runs against South Africa, Virat Kohli scored only 75 runs in 7 matches. Rahmanullah Gurbaz, who got a place in the opening, was the highest run-scorer in the tournament. ICC did not give King Kohli a place in the Team of the Tournament due to these two reasons.
