Virat Kohli Sharing a post on Twitter, has announced to leave the captaincy of the Test team. He left the captaincy of the T20 team just before the T20 World Cup, while he was removed from the captaincy of the ODI team. He announced this on Twitter the day after the loss in the Test series against South Africa.

Kohli wrote on Twitter, ‘I tried to make the team go in the right direction with seven years of hard work, and struggle. I have done my work with complete honesty. And I left no stone unturned. Everything has to stop at some point. And it’s time for me to step down from India’s Test captaincy.

He wrote, ‘There have been many ups and downs in this journey, but my efforts and faith have never waned.’ On Virat’s tweet, BCCI has thanked his contribution to Indian cricket. The board has tweeted, ‘BCCI congratulates Team India Captain Virat Kohli for his inspiring leadership ability which has taken the team to greater heights. He captained India in 68 Test matches, out of which Team India won 40.

Kohli had left the captaincy of the T20 team before the T20 World Cup. After this he was removed from the captaincy of the ODI team, after which there was a lot of controversy. There was a dispute between the selectors and Virat Kohli after Kohli stepped down as the captaincy of the ODI format.

Kohli further wrote in his message, ‘I have always believed in giving my 120 percent in everything and if I can not do that then I know it is not the right thing to do. I need to have complete clarity in my heart and I can’t be dishonest with the team.

Kohli wrote, ‘I want to thank BCCI for giving me the opportunity to captain the team for so long. More than this, I would like to thank the teammates who embraced my vision that I carried with this team from day one and never gave up under any circumstances.
