‘Vicky Vidya Ka Woh Wala Video’ Review: Comedy is full, acting is strong, but the story is a bit scattered

Vicky Vidya Ka Woh Wala Video Movie Review: Comic family films have always been the first choice of festivals. This is the reason why the writer-director of ‘Dream Girl’ and ‘Dream Girl 2’ has brought a comedy film like ‘Vicky Vidya Ka Woh Wala Video’ this Dussehra. But in order to make the dose of laughter stronger, the story has become loose due to the more spices that Raj Shandilya has added. The second weak link of the film is the nineties backdrop of the film, with which the audience is unable to connect.

Story of ‘Vicky Vidya’s That Video’

Vicky (Rajkumar Rao), who applies mehendi, and Doctor Vidya (Tripti Dimri)’s story is set in Uttaranchal in the nineties. Vicky lives with his/her grandfather (Tiku Talsania), his/her younger brother and a sister Chanda (Mallika Sherawat) who is unhappy with marriage but has run away from home 8-10 times in search of love. On the other hand, Vidya lives with her father (Rakesh Bedi) and mother (Archana Puran Singh). Everything remains fine between the two until they get married. But the twist in the story comes when after marriage, both of them make a video of their wedding night and the CD of that video is stolen.

Inspector Vijay Raj, who has come to investigate the case, falls in love with Chanda. Vicky wants to get the CD of his/her wedding night at any cost before it comes into the hands of the police or gets circulated in the market, but in the process he/she gets entangled in a half-murder case of a thief in the market. Before he/she can even get out of that mess, he/she gets an anonymous call saying that if you want the CD of that video, you will have to pay a ransom of two lakh rupees. In the efforts to recover the CD, another big secret is revealed. But what is that secret? Is Vicky able to get the CD of that video? To know this you will have to watch the film.

‘Vicky Vidya Ka Woh Wala Video’ Movie Review

Writer-director Raj Shandilya has a good hand in comedy. his/her career started as a writer of successful laugh-provoking shows like ‘Comedy Circus’. Here too he/she starts the film on a good note. The first half of the film also entertains, but the story falls apart in the second half. Raj Shandilya spends a lot of time searching for ‘that CD’.

It is accepted that at this time the audience is liking horror-comedy, but here the horror element like ‘Stree’ seems to have been forcefully inserted in the climax. The film gives the message that capturing your intimate moments on video or phone can be dangerous, but linking this message to feminism seems powerful.

The film could have been reduced by 15-20 minutes on the editing table. Cinematography by Aseem Mishra is average. Talking about music, along with the music of today’s era, songs of the nineties have also been included in the film, of which the song ‘Mere Mehboob’ has become a good one. Two songs of the nineties by Daler Mehndi, ‘Na Na Na Na Na Re’ and ‘Tumhe Apna Banane’ have also been recreated beautifully. Shehnaz Gill’s item song is included in the song ‘Sajna Ve Sajna’.

Rajkumar Rao, who recently gave a blockbuster film like ‘Stree 2’, has made a splash in the role of Vicky this time too. Anyway, Rajkumar has a good grip on the role of small town boys. Trupti Dimri as Vidya has supported her well. But his/her character should have been developed further.

The surprise package of the film is the explosive chemistry of Mallika Sherawat and Vijay Raj. Mallika has made a great comeback in the role of Chanda. his/her role reminds me of ‘Welcome’. Vijay Raaz is one of those actors of cinema who adds a touch of entertainment to every character and this time too he/she provides a lot of fun through his/her character. The 90s song ‘Tumhen Apna Banane’ filmed on him/her and Mallika has become fun. Archana Puran Singh, Tiku Talsania and Rakesh Bedi have created a lot of laughs in the comic space. Ashwini Kalsekar and Mukesh Tiwari are also successful in their roles. Supporting roles are also good.

Why watch- Lovers of comedy and family films can watch this film.
