Veterans are worried about Pakistan in T20 World Cup, officials said- if they lose then…

Karachi. The Pakistan team is once again going to play the T20 World Cup under the captaincy of Babar Azam. The team played the final last time and suffered a crushing defeat against England. Former Pakistan players do not expect a good performance from their team in the T20 World Cup starting in the US on Saturday.

Pakistan lost a T20 match in Ireland and then suffered a 0-2 defeat in England this week. Earlier, New Zealand, playing without many big players, held them to a 2-2 draw on home soil. Former captain Rashid Latif said, “The team is not able to get its combination right, which is their biggest problem.”

Latif believes that Pakistan needs to make more use of its spinners along with its batting changes. he/she said, “With the changes in the team, the players will have to be ready to change their roles as per the need.”

However, veteran Javed Miandad is expecting an unexpected result. he/she said, “The team’s performance remains contrary to expectations. This team has always performed well in the T20 World Cup. But they definitely need to improve rapidly in some areas. This tournament has 20 teams and in such a situation you cannot take anything lightly.”

Many cricket fans are not happy with the selection or performance of Azam Khan, who got out cheaply at the Oval and dropped two catches. Azam, who followed in his/her father Moin Khan’s footsteps as a wicketkeeper-batsman, has been trolled on social media since Thursday. Apart from Azam, all-rounder Shadab Khan and lower-order batsman Iftikhar Ahmed are struggling to score runs. Fast bowlers like Naseem Shah and Mohammad Aamir conceded a lot of runs against England.

Some officials of the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) are worried that if the team does not reach the World Cup semi-finals, it will affect the preparations for the Champions Trophy. Pakistan has got the hosting rights of the Champions Trophy 2025. An official said, “If the team does not perform well, then the number of sponsors and broadcasters investing in Pakistan cricket may be adversely affected.

Former player Basit Ali said, “I think Babar should bat at number three and Saim (Ayub) or Fakhar (Zaman) should open the innings with Mohammad Rizwan.”
