Vande Mataram: When was Vande Mataram sung for the first time? Read the song that brought about a revolution

Vande Mataram Full National Song in Hindi: Vande Mataram is the national song of India. Poet and novelist Bankim Chandra Chatterjee wrote Vande Mataram. The Vande Mataram song was composed on 7 November 1876 in a village named Kantal Pada in Bengal. Vande Mataram was sung for the first time in the Calcutta session of the Congress in 1896. That is, about 51 years before India gained independence. This song played a big role in India’s freedom struggle. It inspired people to fight for independence. It was a voice of protest against the British.

Rabindranath Tagore composed Vande Mataram. Like the national anthem Jana Gana Mana, Vande Mataram is also sung in 52 seconds. The full song is given here.

Vande Mataram Lyrics

Mother, I salute to thee

Well-watered, fruitful, malaise cool,
Black-black, mother!
Vande Mataram!

White-bright, radiant eyes,
Beautiful as the petals of a flowering tree,
A nice smiling, sweet speaking woman,
Happy and blessed, Mom!
Mother, I salute to thee.

Millions of voices make a sound tomorrow
Twenty-two million arms, holding a sickle
why did you say mother you are helpless
I bow to the savior who has many powers
Mother of the enemy’s water.

vande mataram lyrics

You are knowledge, you are religion, you are the heart, you are the essence
Because you are the life-force in the body
Strength in your arms,
Heart’s devotion to you,
Your statues are kept in temples.

You are a stronghold with ten weapons
Kamala Kamaldal Viharini
Words give knowledge, I salute you
I bow to the lotus, the immaculate, the incomparable
A well watered and well fruit producing mum.

She was dark, simple and had a beautiful smile
Earth is the mother of fillings.
