The catering contractor of the CSMT-Madgaon Vande Bharat Express has been fined Rs 25,000 by the Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC) after receiving several complaints regarding the quality of food served on the train.

The fine has been imposed in the wake of a recent incident in which human nails were found in the food served by the Railways to a passenger. After which he/she recorded its video and shared it on social media, which went viral.

In response to the increasing number of complaints, IRCTC initiated an investigation into the matter and implemented special protocols to provide satisfactory food service to passengers. As part of IRCTC’s efforts, an officer has been appointed to supervise the on-board food service on Vande Bharat Express. In addition, a thorough inspection was carried out of the base kitchen at Ratnagiri, which is responsible for catering on the train.
