US Student Visa: Indians will get student visa without any restriction, know why America is ‘kind’ to students

US Student Visa: The number of Indian students going to America to study is increasing year by year. After Covid, more than 96000 students were given US student visa in 2021. The number of students getting visa in 2022 was more than 1,33,000 and last year i.e. in 2023, 1,40,000 students got student visa. In view of this, it is now expected that a large number of Indian students can get US student visa in 2024.

Brenda Soya, Public Affairs Officer of the US Consulate General in Mumbai, while speaking to The Pi News said, “The number of students from India going to study in the US is constantly increasing. We are proud that even students seeking visa appointments for the first time are getting appointments in the first go. Mumbai alone has conducted the highest number of student visa interviews compared to any other part of the world.”

The number of Indian girl students is less in America

Indians make up a quarter of the total number of students from across the world who go to study in the US. But the important thing to note here is that the majority of Indian students are male. Only a third of the total number of Indian students studying in the US are female. Brendo Soya said, “The number of female students is less compared to Indian students and this is something we are working on. The main reason for this is to study STEM courses, in which more admissions are taken by male students.”

Why will Indian students get student visa easily?

Public Affairs Officer Brenda Soya said, “The number of female students in American colleges is higher. So if you are a student from India, you will be a part of the majority student population.” Brenda explained the reasons behind the possibility of Indian students getting more visas this time. She said, “I believe that we are getting better students from India. Earlier the question was how many students should be given visas, how much GPA would be required. Students always wanted to know the formula.”

Brenda, a US Embassy official who attended the EducationUSA fair, added, “Today, the recruiters and students who attend the fair are more savvy. Students have realized that there is a partnership between them and the universities and that American education can be easily obtained.” Students now know what they need, how much the course will cost, and are showing interest in studying sectors such as data science and analytics.

What preparations have been made for the safety of Indian students?

Although America is the favorite destination of Indian students, their safety has become a big issue due to some recent developments. In 2024 alone, 11 Indian or Indian-origin students have died in crimes like road accidents, violent clashes in America. Brenda Soya said, “The safety of students is a major concern for both America and universities. Every university has its own safety and security plan. So whenever a student reaches the campus, he/she can know about the security system there.”
