F-1 visa is given to students applying to study in US universities. This visa remains valid as long as your course studies are going on. After the course is over, the visa status has to be changed. What documents are required for F-1 visa?

Admission Offer Letter and I-20 Form: After getting admission in US University, Admission Offer Letter and I-20 Form is given. Some universities also require sufficient funds to be shown in the account for the I-20 form. The I-20 form states that the student has enough money to study in the US.

Receipt of payment made to SEVIS: After receiving the admission offer letter and I-20 form from the university, you are registered on the ‘Student and Exchange Visitors Program’ (SEVP). For this, a fee of $350 has to be paid, after which you will get a receipt for the payment given to SEVIS.

DS-160 form confirmation page: The F-1 visa given to study in America is a nonimmigrant visa. Applicants have to fill the online Nonimmigrant Visa Application i.e. DS-160 form to obtain it. The confirmation page received after filling it is necessary.

Generally these documents are required when applying for student visa. However, on some occasions, academic transcripts, diplomas, degrees, or certificates may also be requested. You may also be required to show proof of having sufficient bank balance to cover your expenses while studying in the US. You may also have to prove that you will leave the US after completing your studies. For this you may have to show the return ticket.
