US batsman smashes records, hits a barrage of sixes on T20 World Cup debut


New Delhi. Host USA played a brilliant game in the first match of ICC T20 World Cup. In the match played against Canada, due to the stormy innings of Aaron Jones, the team chased the target of 195 runs easily and registered a win. Playing an unbeaten innings of 94 runs in 40 balls, this batsman gave the team a big victory of 7 wickets in 17.4 overs. During the match, Jones made a record of sixes and the team set many records simultaneously.

The first match of the ICC T20 World Cup was a great one. After winning the toss against Canada, the host USA decided to bowl first. Navneet Dhaliwal and Nicholas Kirton hit fifties and took the score to 194 runs for 5 wickets. While chasing the target, USA suffered initial setbacks but Andries Gaus and Aaron Jones made such a partnership that turned the match in their favour. Both the batsmen scored fifties and made many records while making a century partnership.

Aaron Jones sets records
Against Canada, America’s Aaron Jones played an unbeaten innings of 94 runs in 40 balls. During this, he/she hit a total of 10 sixes. West Indies’ Chris Gayle had hit 10 sixes during his/her century in 2007, which Jones equaled. The maximum number of sixes hit in an innings from America was 5. This batsman broke the record set by Gajanand Singh against Ireland in 2021. Jones made the record of doing this feat fastest by hitting a fifty in 22 balls from America.

Records made during the match
During this match, the pair of Andries Gaus and Aaron Jones made many records. The US team has now come third in the list of ICC T20 World Cup target chases. This means that the US successfully achieved the third biggest target in the history of the tournament and registered a win. Andries Gaus and Aaron Jones made the second biggest partnership in the T20 World Cup for the third wicket. This is the biggest partnership for any wicket for the US. This pair made the record of the fastest 100-run partnership in the history of the tournament.
