Competition with about 10 lakh candidates
The Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) conducts Civil Services Examination for the recruitment of candidates for the Indian Administrative Service (IAS), Indian Police Service (IPS), Indian Foreign Service (IFS) and other posts. Every year about 10 lakh candidates are part of this competitive exam, however, only a few people are able to pass it in their first attempt. This story is about IAS Rukmini Riar, who failed in the sixth grade, but passed the UPSC exam in the first attempt.
Start of studies

Rukmini did her early studies in Gurdaspur and enrolled in fourth grade at Sacred Heart School in Dalhousie. Talking about his/her education, he/she said that he/she earned a graduation in social science from Guru Nanak Dev University, Amritsar.
The desire for UPSC exam while working in NGO

After completing the master’s degree from Tata Institute of Social Sciences (Tiss) Mumbai, by earning a master’s degree in Social Science from Tata Institute in Mumbai, Rukmani introduced an interns with non-governmental organizations (NGOs) such as Ashoda in Mysore and Annapurna Mahila Mandal in Mumbai. During his/her time in the NGO, he/she was deeply interested in civil service and decided to take the UPSC exam.
Success with Air 2 in the year 2011

In 2011, Rukmini achieved a remarkable success by passing the UPSC exam in her first attempt, and achieved the impressive All India Rank (AIR) 2. he/she completed his/her journey on the basis of self -study with any coaching class.
