‘UPSC changed everything, otherwise I would have…’ Vikas Divyakirti opened his/her heart in the live interview!

But do you know that the Vikas Divyakirti you know today was not always like this. his/her life was very different till college. But a turning point came and his/her life changed. In an interview with ANI, he/she told what he/she would have been today if he/she had not gone on this path.

Who is Vikas Divyakirti?

Vikas Divyakirti, who cracked UPSC in his/her first attempt in 1996, left his/her job in the Central Secretariat within a year. he/she chose the path of guiding UPSC aspirants. he/she started teaching. In 1999, he/she started his/her institute Drishti IAS and is teaching there till date. An educator, author and popular YouTuber. For his/her way of saying beautiful things on UPSC, parenting, relationships and life skills in a very simple manner, he/she is liked a lot even by those who have nothing to do with civil services. Students’ favourite Divyakirti Sir told in an interview that ‘I took commerce in 12th because I had to leave science. Then I took history in graduation. Then Hindi in MA.

It was 1994-95 when I started studying for UPSC. I was doing MA in Hindi from Hindu College. I left History Honors after graduation because I had to study history and I was not in the mood to study at all at that time. I used to do debating. ‘When I started preparing for UPSC while doing MA, I had two options. I thought I should take history because I have done graduation in it. But only I know how I passed it. ‘At that time, I studied Hindi literature from a teacher. his/her name is Rameshwar Rai, he/she is currently in Hindu College, he/she is about to retire. I have not attended classes much. I used to feel sleepy in class, I used to get bored. But he/she was such a good teacher that I used to go to his/her house and study from him/her. That was one year when I realized how beautiful the world of knowledge is. If I had not got into UPSC then....

‘If I had not been in UPSC, I would have probably been an MLA or a councillor somewhere and 3-4 fat people would have been roaming around with me. I would have probably gone that way, because I was like that then. When I started preparing for UPSC, everything changed. For the first time, I started studying properly. Then my debates started getting better. There was less shouting and screaming and my words started carrying more weight. Then I also got selected in UPSC.
