UPSC chairman resigns, why is NTA chief still left… Congress raises questions


New Delhi: Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) Chairman Manoj Soni resigned on Saturday. The Congress has reacted to the way the UPSC chief left his/her post amid the Pooja Khedkar controversy. The opposition party claimed that there are many people who have corrupted the system. Party general secretary Jairam Ramesh questioned why National Examination Agency (NTA) chief Pradeep Kumar Joshi is left? It clearly seemed that Soni would be ousted in view of the current controversy of UPSC.

According to official sources, UPSC Chairman Manoj Soni has resigned from his/her post citing ‘personal reasons’. his/her term was to end in May 2029. On this, Congress leader Jairam Ramesh posted on ‘X’. he/she wrote that since 2014, the sanctity, reputation, autonomy and professional approach of all constitutional bodies have been badly damaged. But from time to time even the self-proclaimed non-biological Prime Minister is forced to say that enough is enough.

Jairam Ramesh wrote that Narendra Modi brought one of his/her favourite ‘academics’ from Gujarat as a UPSC member in 2017. he/she was made the chairman for a six-year term in 2023. However, this so-called eminent gentleman has now resigned five years before his/her term ends. Jairam Ramesh said that whatever the reasons, it seemed clear that he/she would be ousted given the current controversy in the UPSC.

The Congress leader further said that many more such persons have corrupted the system. For example, take the chairman of NTA. Why is he/she still spared? Sources said that Soni’s resignation has nothing to do with the questions being raised on the Union Public Service Commission after the case of probationary IAS (Indian Administrative Service) officer Pooja Khedkar came to light.
