‘Universities are selling work permits’, who said this regarding foreign students in US?

US OPT controversy: Donald Trump is going to be sworn in as the President of America on January 20. But even before Trump’s swearing-in, his/her supporters have opened a front against foreign workers and students in America. Trump supporters have demanded that the H-1B visa program be closed or the rules for it should be tightened. Meanwhile, a group has raised questions on the ‘Optional Practical Training’ (OPT) conducted for jobs after studies in America.
For foreign students, the easiest way to get a job in America is OPT, through which they can later get a three-year H-1B visa. However, critics of this program say that it is eliminating job opportunities for America’s new college graduates. Through the OPT program, foreign students get a temporary job opportunity after graduation. Later they also get a permanent job through H-1B visa.

Who opposed OPT?

A group called US Tech Workers has opposed OPT and has described the OPT program as a guest worker program similar to an internship for foreign students. In a post on social media platform It was not meant to provide an opportunity, but it was for skill development.”

It further said, “Universities are selling work permits instead of education. These are illegally created, like DACA (Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals). Trump needs to end OPT to protect American college graduates from unfair competition. Needed.” While Donald Trump has opposed illegal immigration and hiring low-skilled people during the election campaign and currently, his/her supporters have gone after high-skilled workers.
