Unique performance of opposition in Parliament: BJP members welcomed with tricolor and roses, Rahul Gandhi gave gift to Rajnath

New Delhi : On Wednesday, opposition MPs staged a unique demonstration in Parliament. he/she greeted the BJP MPs with the tricolor in one hand and a red rose in the other. The opposition said that the proceedings of Parliament should run smoothly and all issues including the Adani case should be discussed. This protest was part of a series of demonstrations led by the Congress on the Adani issue. Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha, Rahul Gandhi presented a tricolor shaped card to Defense Minister Rajnath Singh. This happened when Singh was entering Parliament House. Several opposition MPs, including Congress, DMK, JMM and Left parties, stood in front of the entry gate carrying tricolor cards and red roses. According to news agency PTI, many MPs also had placards with slogans like ‘Don’t sell the country’.

The protest followed a demonstration a day earlier, in which MPs carried dark blue bags. On one side of these bags, cartoons of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and industrialist Gautam Adani were printed and on the other side ‘Modi-Adani Bhai-Bhai’ was written. On Tuesday, they raised slogans against the alleged nexus between Modi and Adani and demanded a JPC inquiry into the matter.

On Monday, leaders of some parties of the INDIA alliance protested in the Parliament complex on the Adani case. Rahul Gandhi conducted a fake ‘interview’ on the issue, in which Congress members wore masks of Modi and Adani. Opposition protests over the Gautam Adani case have been going on in the Parliament premises since the beginning of the winter session.

Congress and some other opposition parties are demanding a JPC probe following allegations against Adani and other company officials in the US court. Congress says the allegations against Adani vindicate their demand for a JPC probe into various ‘scams’ linked to the billionaire industrialist’s group. Rahul Gandhi has demanded immediate arrest of Adani. Adani Group has rejected all the allegations as ‘baseless’.
