Mukul Rohatgi demanded transparency on the dispute of Justice Yashwant Verma. he/she asked the Supreme Court to issue Bulitin for clear information on the case. he/she expressed concern about the delay in the information of the incident and lack of details.
How many rooms were investigated, all should be in front
Rohatgi said, ‘Many questions are unresolved due to lack of transparency. This is raising doubts in the minds of the people. It should be known that who reported the fire at Justice Verma’s house? When did the fire department arrived? Why did the head of the department first say that no money was received? How many rooms were investigated? Money was found indoors or in servant quarters? ‘
Why information was given to CJI after 6 days
The senior lawyer further said, “Only after getting answers to these questions, complete information about the incident will be available.” Questioning the time limit of the incident, Rohatgi said that when the incident took place on March 14, why was the country’s Chief Justice (CJI) informed about March 20. If he/she was told earlier, why did he/she react late. These reasons should be investigated.
It is difficult to know the truth
Rohtagi raised many other questions as if he/she asked why the clarification was not sought immediately. Why the report of Chief Justice of Delhi High Court was not made public. Rohatgi also questioned the investigation. he/she said whether the investigation was started due to the money received. he/she also asked in what condition the money was received. Was he/she in a bag, was in a suitcase or was hidden under the bed? Rohatgi says that due to lack of transparency, it is becoming difficult to know the truth.
There was a case of trapping or something …
Rohatgi has also described Justice Verma’s statement as important. he/she said that Justice Verma’s side should also be included in the investigation conducted by the Chief Justice of Delhi High Court. he/she asked whether it was a case of trapping or Justice Verma had accepted the money. If he/she accepted, was that money was his/her and what explanation he/she gave about it.
Police should be allowed to investigate
Rohatgi said that if Justice Verma admitted that the money belonged to him/her, it would not be enough to send him/her to another place only. Strict action should be taken against them, such as withdrawing judicial work from them. If the matter is clear, the CJI should allow the police to conduct a thorough investigation. It is suspected that the Supreme Court and the High Court can conduct such a serious investigation without the help of forensic experts. This is not a normal inquiry in which only his/her side is asked by the accused.
