UGC NET Exam Date 2024: Will the dates of UGC NET exam be changed? Schedule may change due to this festival

The exam dates of UGC NET 2024 December session may be changed. DMK MP Kanimozhi Karunanidhi has requested Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan to immediately reschedule the exams. DMK MP has given information in this regard by posting on social media platform X. The examination is to be conducted by NTA from January 3 to January 16, 2025.

In a letter to the Union Education Minister, the DMK MP said that Pongal is falling on January 15 and 16. he/she said that Pongal is not just a festival. It is a celebration of Tamil pride and identity. It sought to ensure that no student is forced to choose between his/her education and his/her tradition.

In a post on Twitter, he/she said, ‘I have written a letter to the Union Education Minister requesting immediate change in the UGC NET exam dates, which have been scheduled for Pongal on January 15 and 16.

Let us tell you that Pongal is a harvest festival in Tamil Nadu. It is celebrated from 13 to 16 January. It consists of four days: Bhogi Pongal, Thai Pongal, Mattu Pongal and Kanun Pongal. Every day has its own importance. In North India, this festival is celebrated as Makar Sankranti. According to the Hindu calendar, it marks the northward journey of the Sun.

In the first shift on January 16, 2025, there will be examinations for Sociology, French, Spanish, German, Sindhi, Comparative Study of Religion, Philosophy, Dogri and Kashmiri. In the second shift, examinations of Library Science, Human Rights, Politics and International Studies, Hindu Studies and other subjects will be conducted. Students may have to face problems due to this conflict.
