With this, many questions have started arising from the education system of the country to the functioning of NTA. But if we talk only about UGC NET Exam June 2024, then the biggest question is that why did the National Testing Agency take the NET exam offline this time? Whereas for the last 4 years this exam was being conducted in online mode.

Now the answer to this question has been given by the Education Ministry. The Education Ministry held a press conference on Thursday, June 20, regarding the issue of NET exam cancellation and UPC NET paper leak.

Why was UGC NET Offline Exam held?

Joint Secretary, Ministry of Education, Govind Jaiswal reiterated the same thing in the press conference earlier that the decision to cancel the NET exam has been taken based on the information received from the Indian Cyber ​​Crime Coordination Center. The investigation of the case has been handed over to the CBI and the new exam dates will be announced soon. The ministry has assured strict action against those found guilty in this case.

Meanwhile, when asked why the NET exam was taken in pen-paper mode this time? The Education Ministry official replied that ‘this decision was taken on the basis of the four years of experience of the National Testing Agency (NTA) and the suggestions received from various parties.’

The issue of paper leak took a political turn

The cancellation of UGC NET exam amid protests over irregularities in NEET exam has become another issue for opposition parties to attack the Narendra Modi government ahead of the Parliament session. Congress has dubbed the Narendra Modi-led NDA government as ‘paper leak government’. Other members of the All India Alliance including Samajwadi Party, Trinamool Congress and Shiv Sena (Uddhav Balasaheb Thackeray) have also criticised the government over both exams.

UGC NET Exam June 2024 was conducted for 11 lakh candidates on Tuesday, June 18. But within 24 hours, the Ministry of Education informed that the NET JRF exam is being cancelled. Because irregularities have been reported in the exam.

It is noteworthy that UGC-NET exam is conducted to determine the eligibility of candidates for the post of Assistant Professor in universities and colleges, for providing research fellowship, for PhD admission.
