Sirohi. Two students who had gone to take bath in Banas river in Manpur of Abu Road drowned. There was panic among the other students present on the spot. Other students tried to save both the drowning students. But, did not succeed. The news of drowning of two students spread like wildfire in the city. A large number of people gathered at the spot. The drowned students were searched with the help of divers. After about 4 hours of effort, the body of a student was taken out of the river.
About 118 students of Kesar and Sardar Senior Secondary School, Jaipur left for Mount Abu in two buses. Teachers and school management officials were together. The group of students stayed in nearby Dharamshala. Some students went to take bath in Banas river below Manpur Rajwada Bridge. Meanwhile, 17 year old Pritam Bairava and 18 year old Dularam Meena drowned in the river. Other students present on the spot tried to save him. But, did not succeed. There was mourning among the students due to the drowning of two students in the river. The students wept bitterly on the pretext of their friend. Administrative officers and police officers reached the spot and started the rescue operation.
Divers and SDRF team of Abu Road, Mount Abu started searching for both the students in the river. After a search operation that lasted for 4 hours, Pritam’s body was found out of the river. The doctor present on the spot declared the student dead. After this his body was kept in the mortuary. The families of both the students were informed about the accident. Due to the seriousness of the accident, SP Jayeshtha Maitreyi and Mount Abu SDM Siddharth Palanichamy reached the spot. Gave necessary instructions to the officers. Till late evening, divers and SDRF team remained busy searching for the second student who drowned in the river.
