New Delhi : israel Israel under fire from Defense Forces and lebanon UN (United Nations) peacekeepers deployed between the two were also injured. Two peacekeepers have been injured in the shelling and have been admitted to hospital. The area between Israel and Lebanon is known as the Blue Line. Its total length is 120 kilometers. This is a buffer zone where the UN force is deployed, which is a peacekeeping force. More than 10 thousand soldiers of the armies of 50 countries of the world including India are deployed under UNIFIL on the Blue Line. There are more than 700 Indian soldiers in it.
UNIFIL i.e. United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon has issued a statement saying that the Israeli Defense Forces carried out this shelling deliberately. They have been reminded of international laws. UNIFIL said that we are talking to the Israeli Defense Forces in this regard. In the past few days, Israel launched ground attacks on Hezbollah positions in Lebanon and Israeli troops are attacking Nakoura and other areas.

UNIFIL has issued a statement saying that there have been repeated attacks on Nakoura headquarters and surrounding bases. This morning, two peacekeepers were injured when a Merkava tank of the Israel Defense Forces fired its cannon towards an observation tower at the UNIFIL headquarters in Nakoura. It hit the tower and the soldiers fell down. The soldiers’ injuries are not serious, but they have been admitted to hospital.

UNIFIL said Israeli Defense Forces troops also fired on UN Base (UNP) 1-31 in Labbouneh, hitting the entrance of a bunker where peacekeepers were sheltering and damaging vehicles and communications systems. An Israeli Defense Forces drone was seen flying towards the entry gate of a bunker inside the UN base.

UNIFIL says Israeli Defense Forces soldiers deliberately fired on the base’s position parameter monitoring, disabling it. Also fired deliberately on UNP 1-32A in Nakoura.

UNIFIL said the Israeli Defense Forces have a responsibility to protect UN personnel and property and to respect UN premises. Any deliberate attack on peacekeepers is a grave violation of international humanitarian law and Security Council Resolution 1701. UNIFIL said that we are talking to the Israeli Defense Forces on this issue.
