New Delhi: In view of the increasing participation of women in Indian democracy and the great enthusiasm of women voters in elections, Congress has planned to promote women participation in the organization. Under this, the women’s wing of the party, Mahila Congress, has started a women’s membership campaign in the country, under which two lakh women took membership in the first 20 days. All India Mahila Congress President Alka Lamba gave this information in the media on Saturday. On one hand, she tried to link this effort with Rahul Gandhi’s visits to India, while on the other hand she called it one of the important five justices of Rahul Gandhi. Referring to Rahul Gandhi’s Bharat Nyay Yatra, Lamba said that the aim of this campaign is to focus on political, social and economic justice for women. On this occasion, he/she said that Mahila Congress has set a target of connecting 10 lakh women by the end of the year under this campaign. It is noteworthy that during the Udaipur and Raipur Congress thinking camps, the party had decided that the participation of women in the organization should be increased.

When did Congress’ plan start?

Speaking to the media, Lamba said that Mahila Congress had started this nationwide campaign from its foundation day on 15th September. Nearly two lakh women subscribed through the online process in the first 20 days of the campaign. This trend will continue further also. Alka said that by the end of this year we will connect 10 lakh women with the organization through membership. Mahila Congress will also give appointment letters to all the women members joining this campaign, which will start from October 15. Lamba said that the amount that will come to the organization as membership fee through this campaign will be spent on leadership programs for women and their empowerment.

What is the benefit to Congress?

In view of the voting held in Haryana on Saturday, Alka Lamba said that we are seeing women standing in lines to cast their votes. Their active participation shows a step towards development and change. Alka said that the way our leader Rahul Gandhi and the Congress Party have talked about giving social, economic and political justice to women, the party has come forward to support wrestler daughter Vinesh Phogat who is fighting for her rights.
