Tripura CM Manik Saha divided the portfolios
Tripura Chief Minister Manik Saha on Friday distributed portfolios among his/her cabinet colleagues. The CM has kept more than 30 departments including Home, Health, PWD, Information and Cultural Affairs, Education and Forests with him/her. According to a notification issued by Chief Secretary JK Sinha, the power and agriculture portfolios have been assigned to Ratan Lal Nath, who handled the education and law portfolios in the previous government. Pranjit Singha Roy has been given the finance portfolio with planning and coordination and information technology.

Sushant Chowdhary has been allotted Food, Civil Supplies, Transport and Tourism portfolios. While Santana Chakma has been given the charge of Industries and Commerce Department. Tinku Roy has been given the youth affairs, sports and labor departments. While Sudhanshu Das has been allotted Scheduled Caste Welfare, Animal Resource Development Department. Shukla Charan Noatia, the lone minister of the Indigenous People’s Front of Tripura, an ally of the BJP in the coalition government, has been allotted the Cooperation and Minorities Welfare department.

As per reports, three ministerial posts have remained vacant as the BJP is approaching the tribal-based Tipra Motha Party (TMP) to participate in the BJP-led government. Four ministers from the first BJP-led government, Ram Prasad Paul, Bhagwan Das, Manoj Kanti Deb and Rampada Jamatia, did not find place in the second government led by the saffron party. The BJP alone won 32 seats in the February 16 assembly elections, while its ally IPFT bagged one seat in the 60-member assembly. Securing 13 seats, the TMP emerged as the second largest party behind the main opposition CPI-M, which ruled the state for 35 years in two phases (1978–1988 and 1993–2018) and won 11 seats. achieved and the Congress was successful in three seats.
