UNSC: India’s two-year term in the UN Security Council ends on December 31. India’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations Ruchira Kamboj said that the work in the UN will continue even after the end of the term. India has many important issues, so India will always continue to raise its voice. He said that we are committed to multilateralism and reforms in the United Nations.
India has successfully completed its term of the December Presidency of the United Nations Security Council (UNSC). He said that as a major troop-contributing country, we will also be actively involved in issues related to peacekeeping. He said India has strengthened its commitment to basic principles including the rule of law, a fair and just international system.
Will be involved in issues related to peacekeeping
Ruchira Kamboj said that as a major troop-contributing country, we will also be actively involved in issues related to peacekeeping. The group was launched by India’s foreign minister to ensure accountability for crimes against UN peacekeepers. During this, Kamboj recalled India’s successful December presidency of the UNSC.
India made co-chair of the Group of Friends
On 1 December, India assumed the presidency of the United Nations Security Council (UNSC) for the second time during its two-year term as an elected member of the Council in 2021-2022. He said that India will always raise its voice at the international level. India has been appointed co-chair of the Group of Friends of Landlocked Developing Countries and will help drive the roadmap for the review.
He said that in the last two years we spoke in support of peace, security and prosperity. We did not hesitate to raise our voice against terrorism, the enemy of humanity. At the very beginning of our term in January 2021, External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar presented an eight-point action plan to the United Nations system to credibly deal with the menace of terrorism.
