Congress-BJP Vote Share Himachal: Congress has got majority in Himachal Pradesh assembly elections. In Himachal, which has 68 assembly constituencies, the Congress won with 40 seats. BJP got only 25 seats. However, looking at the vote percentage that both the parties got, it is known that the Congress has defeated the BJP by a very small margin.

Congress got 43.9 percent vote share in the Himachal assembly elections. If we look at the total number of votes, Congress got 18,52,504 votes. BJP managed to win 25 seats with 43 percent vote share. BJP got 18,14,504 votes. Now if the difference between the two parties is seen, then it is just 37,974 votes. In such a situation, it is clear that there has been a very tough contest between the two parties on most of the seats and the margin of victory has been very less.

What happened in 2017?

Earlier, in the 2017 assembly elections, BJP had won 44 seats and at that time the party got 48.79 per cent votes. Whereas Congress had won 21 seats. In 2017, there was a difference of 7.11 percent in the vote share of both the parties, which is much higher than in 2022.

An analysis of the 2022 results also shows that the average victory margin of the Congress in the 40 assembly constituencies was only 5,784 votes. The average victory margin of the BJP, which won 25 seats, was 7,427 votes. The average margin of victory for all 68 seats was recorded at 6,575 votes.

Highest margin of victory

The highest victory margin across the state was recorded in the Seraj constituency, where Chief Minister Jairam Thakur defeated Chet Ram of the Congress by a margin of 38,183 votes. The lowest margin was recorded in Bhoranj, where Congress candidate Suresh Kumar defeated BJP’s Dr. Anil Dhiman by just 60 votes.

Tight fight on these 8 seats

In all, eight seats were decided by margins of less than 1,000 votes, and five of these—Bhoranj (60), Shillai (382), Sujanpur (399), Rampur (567) and Shri Renukaji (860)—were won by the Congress. Entered. Whereas BJP won three seats – Shri Naina Deviji (171), Bilaspur (276) and Darrang (618).

Seven out of 68 seats were decided by a margin of 1,000-2,000 votes. Out of these seats, the Congress won three (Bhatiat, Lahaul-Spiti and Nahan). Whereas BJP won four (Balh, Una, Jaswan-Paragpur and Sarkaghat). Only 13 seats were decided by a margin of more than 10,000 votes.
