Trending News: Gulzar, the sector of private jets in the Kovid epidemic, is now facing the brunt of the recession

During the Kovid epidemic, every mango-o-khas took special  precautions from its own side. In these special precautions, the rich and famous personalities preferred private jets and helicopters instead of commercial flights for air travel. Because of this, there was a great demand for private jets during this period, but only after a year this sector has suffered a big setback. Compared to last year, there has been a significant decrease in the flights of private jets and helicopters this year. This has been revealed from the data collected by the government-owned Airports Authority of India.

16% decrease in private air travel

The demand for private jets had increased a lot during the pandemic, but now it is decreasing rapidly. In the same period from April to November this year, there was a decline of 16.5 per cent in the flights of private jets and helicopters as compared to the previous year. In contrast, in April-November of last year 2021, there was a 48.4 increase in flights of such aircraft as compared to 2020.

This information has come out from the compiled data of the government-owned Airports Authority of India. As the Kovid-19 epidemic is decreasing. The rich and famous people of India are saying goodbye to private planes. Instead, they are opting for commercial flights, due to which the demand for private jets is declining. A total of 1,78,860 flights were operated by normal aircraft in April-November 2019 before the pandemic from airports across the country.

The yatra started in April-November 2020, the first year of the pandemic, after the lockdown and other restrictions were lifted in the second half of the year. Despite this, 1,28,180 private jet air flights were registered. It increased to 1,90,580 in April-November 2021, but the number of these private jet flights decreased to 1,59,130 in April-November 2022. While general aviation air flights also include private jets and helicopters. Takeoff and landing are counted as two aircraft flights.

The demand for private jets increased after the lockdown

When India started domestic flights in May 2020 after a two-month-long lockdown, many high net worth (HNI) individuals as well as companies opted for private jets for travel within the country and abroad. was chosen. Not only this, these people also chose charter flights for holidays with their families. Private jet and helicopter operators made huge profits from this and the sector flourished.

Opting for private jets had helped a lot these very rich people. Such private flights reduce the number of touchpoints and reduce the chances of infection.  According to aviation industry statistics, a passenger traveling by air on a scheduled commercial flight has to go through more touch points than traveling by air on a private jet.

Where a person flying in a private or private jet has to pass through only 40 touch points during air travel, a passenger traveling by a scheduled commercial flight has to pass through at least 280 touch points. But this year Many of these rich and famous have returned to travel in first class and business class of commercial airlines as the impact of Covid subsides.

Corona had increased the speed of private jet industry

“Due to the fear and panic of the disease during Kovid, HNIs as well as corporate houses also opted for chartered flights to fly with their known ones. As the situation normalized and vaccination of people increased and the pandemic also started turning from pandemic to endemic, these HNIs and corporate houses started traveling by commercial flights leaving the option of private jets for air travel.

It is to be noted here that many of these HNIs were such persons,  Who had never flown in a private jet before Kovid. Following the pandemic, the government opened up the domestic sector for flights after regularizing the number of airline flights in October last year. Regular international flights were also approved from March this year.

Where the business jet industry is struggling to regain momentum after Kovid. On the other hand, scheduled airlines in India have registered a record number of passengers in the current year despite high air fares, hotel tariffs and inflation. Recently India recorded the highest number of domestic passengers in a single day on 24th December at 4,35,500. This  has crossed the December 2019 high of 4,20,000.
