Trending News: DGCA issues advisory to airlines to deal with ‘mischievous’ passengers in flight


DGCA Advisory for Indian Airlines: Recently, two incidents of a passenger allegedly urinating on co-passengers on an Air India flight had sparked widespread outrage. After such incidents, now the country’s Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) has issued an advisory to the airlines to deal with the passengers who indulge in ‘dirty acts’.

In the guidelines sent to the head of operations of scheduled airlines, the regulator has said that restraining devices should be used when needed. DGCA further said that the recent cases have tarnished the image of airlines providing air travel. The DGCA statement read, “Some incidents of ill-behavior and unbecoming behavior of some passengers on board have come to the notice of the DGCA during the flights in the recent past. It has been observed that post holders, pilots and cabin crew Members have failed to take appropriate action.”

Airlines will have to be careful about air travel

The DGCA said, “Inaction, improper action or omission by the airlines towards such untoward incidents has tarnished the image of air travel among various sections of the society”. After this an advisory was issued towards DGCA.

These things were said in the advisory:

  1. The DGCA states that if a passenger handling situation arises, “the pilot-in-command is responsible for making an immediate assessment of the situation. If the cabin crew is unable to handle the situation, then take that information.” Can relay to the central-control of the airline for.”
  2. If “verbal communication” makes the situation difficult to handle, all approaches to reconciliation have been exhausted, then “the tools of prevention should be taken”.
  3. “The Heads of Operations are advised to advise the Pilots, Cabin Crew and Director-in-Flight Service of their respective airlines on the subject of dealing with “disobedient passengers” through appropriate channels under intimation to DGCA. Make it sensitive.
  4. The regulator has also warned of strict action in case the airlines do not follow the rules.

Advisory issued after these incidents

This advisory has come after two passengers in an Air India flight allegedly urinated on other passengers traveling in the flight. According to media reports, one such incident took place in the New York-Delhi flight on 26 November, while the second incident is said to have taken place during the Paris-Delhi flight on 6 December.
