Aero-India Show: After successfully conducting the Defense Expo in Gujarat’s capital Gandhinagar, now the Ministry of Defense has started preparations for Aero-India, which is going to be held early next year. Next year i.e. in February 2023, Asia’s biggest air-show is going to be held in Bengaluru. Aero-India will be organized at Yelahanka Air Force Station in Bengaluru between February 13-17.
On Monday (December 5), a delegation from the Defense Production Department of the Ministry of Defense reached Bengaluru and met Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai and senior state officials. The delegation included Anurag Bajpai, Joint Secretary, Department of Defense Production, Commander Achal Malhotra, CEO, Defense Exhibition Organization and CB Ananthakrishnan, CMD, HAL.
CM assured to help
During the meeting, Karnataka Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai thanked the Ministry of Defense and the Defense Minister for conducting the air-show in Bengaluru and assured full help. He also assured to make this edition of Aero-India the biggest ever. This is the 14th edition of Aero-India which is going to be held in February 2023. The country’s first air-show took place in the year 1996.

Emphasis on becoming self-sufficient in the defense sector
The Defense Ministry delegation also met Air Commodore Manoj Kumar, AOC, Yelahanka Air Force Station on Monday (December 5) to ensure the successful completion of the mega-event. Like the Defense Expo in the mega-event, the emphasis will be on becoming self-reliant in the air-space and defense sector. Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL) has been made the nodal agency for Aero-India. Aviation companies from India and abroad participate in the Aero-India show, which is held once in two years.
Not open to public in 2021
Aero India’s show was not open to the public in 2021. Was organized for business visit only. Due to the Kovid epidemic, there was a ban on the arrival of people. The last edition of Aero India was one of the largest hybrid aero shows in which 530 companies including delegations from 43 countries participated. Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL), the agency organizing the air show, has not yet announced which countries are reaching out to participate in it this time.
