- 1911: Roald Amundsen stepped on the South Pole. He became the first person to achieve this feat.
- 1918: BKS Iyengar was born. Born in Bellur, Karnataka, Iyengar has the distinction of being the country’s first yoga guru.
- 1924: Birth of Raj Kapoor, the first showman of Hindi cinema. Raj Kapoor, who became a clap boy in Bombay Talkies in the 1930s, started his acting career at Prithvi Theater and apart from acting, earned a lot of fame in film production and direction as well.
