This decision was taken by the ICC to maintain the integrity of the game. Now transgender players will not be able to play in any way in women’s cricket.
This was confirmed in the ICC meeting held in Ahmedabad on Tuesday. A statement from the ICC said, “The new policy is based on certain principles, including prioritization, integrity of the women’s game, safety, fairness and inclusivity and means that any male or female participant, who is a “No matter how a male has gone through puberty, he will not be able to participate in an international women’s game, even if he has undergone surgery or sex reassignment.”
Women’s cricket is getting a boost
Let us tell you that women’s cricket is increasing day by day. Apart from international, franchise women’s cricket is also getting a lot of promotion. Women’s IPL was held for the first time in India in 2023, which was known as Women’s Premier League. A total of five teams participated in the first season of the tournament. Like last time, the Women’s Premier League will be played in 2024. This means that apart from international cricket, women’s cricket is also getting a lot of promotion in franchise cricket.
Before the Women’s Premier League, women’s franchise cricket is being played in many countries of the world, which includes tournaments like Big Bash League. Let us tell you that Indian women cricketers participate in the Women’s Big Bash League. However, on the contrary, this policy is opposite for male Indian cricketers. Apart from IPL, male Indian cricketers cannot also participate in world leagues.
