Let us tell you that before March 2020, senior citizens, widows of soldiers who lost their lives in war, sportspersons, farmers, journalists, youth etc. were getting concessions in rail travel for years, but on March 20, 2020, by issuing an order, all the concessions being given in trains were canceled till further orders.

These categories of people get exemption

Indian Railways has not abolished all types of concessions available in trains. At present, four categories of Divyangjans, 11 categories of patients and students are getting concessions. But the concessions for senior citizens, farmers or journalists etc. have not been restored yet.

Indian Railways offers several facilities to passengers. For people suffering from certain ailments, the national carrier offers special discounts ranging from 50% to 100% on train fares to make travel easier for them and their attendants. The list includes patients and differently-abled people who can avail discounts up to 100%.

If you have this disease, you will get discount on train tickets

Patients suffering from cancer, thalassemia, TB, AIDS, anaemia, haemophilia, heart surgery, kidney patients going for operation or dialysis, people suffering from leprosy will be given concessions in train tickets.
