List of Top Colleges in India 2024: In the ‘India Ranking’ given under the National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF), Tamil Nadu-based IIT Madras has achieved the distinction of being the best institution in the country for the sixth consecutive year in the overall category. At the same time, Tamil Nadu institutions have also maintained their place in the list of toppers in many other categories. The first three places in the country’s top 100 colleges are Delhi University’s Hindu College, Miranda House and St. Stephen’s College. But according to the number, Tamil Nadu institutions are ahead. In India’s top 100 colleges, there are 37 colleges from Tamil Nadu, 27 from Delhi and 16 from Kerala. In this way, it can be said that 80 out of 100 colleges are from only three states. At the same time, in the overall category, 23 state public universities, 22 private deemed universities, 16 IITs, 9 NITs, 7 central universities and only 1 college are included in the 100.

State Public University NIRF List

Tamil Nadu has 10 universities in the State Public University category, which was started for the first time in 2024. At the same time, 4-4 universities each from Delhi, Haryana, Kerala, Karnataka and Maharashtra are included in the top-50. In the State Public University category, Anna University of Tamil Nadu is ranked first, Jadavpur University of West Bengal is ranked second and Savitribai Phule Pune University of Maharashtra is ranked third.

The four universities of Delhi that have been ranked in this category are Delhi Technological University at 15th, IP University at 21st, Netaji Subhash University of Technology (NSUT) at 34th and Indraprastha Institute of Information Technology at 45th. Maharishi Dayanand University Rohtak of Haryana has been ranked 35th, Kurukshetra University at 41st, Guru Jambheshwar University of Science and Technology Hisar at 47th and Chaudhary Charan Singh Haryana Agricultural University Hisar at 48th.

22 of the top 100 universities in the country are from Tamil Nadu

In the top 100 universities, 22 are from Tamil Nadu and 7 from Delhi. The Indian Institute of Science in Bangalore is at number one followed by JNU and Jamia Millia Islamia. Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham of Tamil Nadu is at number 7 and this city has 22 institutions in the top 100. Delhi University is at number 6 in this category. Jamia Hamdard is at number 40. Delhi Technological University is at 48, IP University at 80, Netaji Subha University of Technology (NSUT) is at number 100.
