Till now, no significant impact of winter is visible in the plains of North India. There is a possibility of rain and thundershowers in some parts of Andhra Pradesh for the next 3 days from Friday. India Meteorological Department (IMD) gave this information on Wednesday. The Meteorological Department said that there is a possibility of rain and thundershowers in isolated parts of North Coastal Andhra Pradesh (NCAP) and Yanam between October 23 and 27. “Heavy rainfall is likely at isolated places over North Coastal Andhra Pradesh and Yanam,” the Meteorological Department said in a release while issuing its weather forecast for October 25. There is a possibility of rain and thundershowers in some parts of Rayalaseema on October 23 and 24.

Cyclonic storm ‘Dana’ in Odisha, heavy rain in coastal areas

Odisha’s coastal areas received heavy rains and gale force winds on Thursday morning and rough sea conditions as Cyclonic Storm ‘Dana’ approached the state coast. India Meteorological Department (IMD) gave this information. IMD said that cyclonic storm ‘Dana’ is likely to reach Bhitarkanika National Park and Dhamra Port in Odisha early on Friday and the wind speed can reach up to 120 kilometers per hour. Cyclonic storm ‘Dana’ formed over the Bay of Bengal has moved towards north-northwest at a speed of 12 km per hour during the last six hours and at 5.30 am it reached Dhamra (Odisha), about 260 km southeast of Paradip (Odisha). 290 km south-southeast of and 350 km south of Sagar Island (West Bengal).

Heavy rain expected in many areas of Andhra Pradesh

Due to the severe cyclonic storm ‘Dana’ in the Bay of Bengal, there is a possibility of heavy rain in the northern coastal areas of Andhra Pradesh. Officials said that the effect of cyclonic storm ‘Dana’ is also visible in the coastal areas of Andhra Pradesh. Andhra Pradesh Disaster Management Authority (APDMA) has advised people to remain alert and take necessary precautions in view of the strong winds. Actually, due to the severe cyclonic storm, the northern coastal areas of Andhra Pradesh are cloudy. Strong winds are blowing in the coastal areas of Srikakulam, Vizianagaram and Visakhapatnam districts. Andhra Pradesh Disaster Management Authority officials have asked fishermen not to venture into the sea in view of the strong winds. They have issued an alert at Krishnapatnam, Machilipatnam, Kakinada, Gangavaram, Visakhapatnam, Kalingapatnam and Nizampatnam ports.

Heavy rain expected in many parts of Jharkhand

Due to the impact of cyclonic storm ‘Dana’, many parts of Jharkhand may receive heavy to very heavy rain from Thursday night. An official of the Meteorological Department gave this information. he/she said that ‘Orange’ alert has been issued for Friday in Kolhan region (West Singhbhum, Seraikela-Kharsawan and East Singhbhum districts). The official said this category of warning indicates heavy rainfall ranging from 115 mm to 204 mm in 24 hours. Ranchi Meteorological Center in-charge Abhishek Anand said, ‘Apart from heavy rain, the area may also experience thunderstorms and strong winds with a speed of up to 60 kilometers per hour.’
