The entire North and West India, from Delhi-NCR to Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Jharkhand, Rajasthan, is facing severe cold. The mercury dropped by several degrees Celsius in Delhi, Punjab and Rajasthan. People got some relief from the harshness of winter due to increase in minimum temperature in the higher reaches of Kashmir and Himachal Pradesh. The Meteorological Department in Jammu and Kashmir has predicted cold wave in some parts of the valley in the next three days. The direct effect of snowfall on the mountains will be visible in many states including Delhi and UP.

Mercury is continuously falling in Delhi-NCR

Cold is continuously increasing in the national capital Delhi and NCR. Light fog appeared on Monday morning. According to the Meteorological Department, people of NCR are expected to face dense fog from Tuesday. After which there will be a drop in the minimum as well as the maximum temperature. Along with this, due to the cold wave, the minimum temperature is expected to go up to 4 degrees and the maximum temperature will also reach 22 degrees. According to the Meteorological Department, the temperature on Monday morning was 5 degrees and the day temperature is likely to be 23 degrees. Along with this, people will sometimes face clouds and sometimes sunshine. From December 17, the Meteorological Department has issued information that due to the cold wave, there will be a decline in the minimum as well as the maximum temperature.

Cold wave will intensify in NCR

According to the Meteorological Department, the cold wave will start on December 17 and the maximum temperature is likely to be 23 degrees and the minimum temperature will be 5 degrees. On December 18, the maximum temperature will reach 22 degrees and the minimum temperature will reach 4 degrees. On December 19 also, the minimum temperature is expected to be 4 degrees and the maximum temperature will be 23 degrees. The Meteorological Department has said that dense fog will prevail in NCR on December 20 and the maximum temperature is expected to be 24 degrees and the minimum temperature will be 7 degrees.

According to IMD, the minimum temperature in Delhi dropped to 4.9 degrees Celsius, which is 3.1 degrees below normal but cold wave conditions have not arisen. IMD said that the maximum temperature in the capital on Sunday was recorded at 23.2 degrees Celsius, which is 0.2 degrees below normal. Fog is forecast in Delhi on Tuesday. The minimum temperature is expected to be 5 degrees Celsius and maximum 23 degrees Celsius.

Severe winter in Punjab Haryana

Cold wave continued in Punjab and Haryana and Faridkot was the coldest place in the region with a minimum temperature of one degree Celsius. The night remained cold in Gurdaspur and Bathinda of Punjab also. The minimum temperature was recorded at two degrees Celsius in Gurdaspur and 4.6 degrees Celsius in Bathinda.

According to the Meteorological Department, the minimum temperature in Pathankot was recorded at 3.5 degrees Celsius while in Amritsar it was 3.9 degrees Celsius. The minimum temperature in Ludhiana was recorded at 6.8 degrees Celsius while the mercury dropped to 3.8 degrees Celsius in Patiala. The minimum temperature in Hisar, Haryana was recorded at 1.7 degrees Celsius while in Narnaul the minimum temperature was recorded at three degrees Celsius. Severe cold continues in Bhiwani and Rohtak also. The minimum temperature in Chandigarh was recorded at 4.8 degrees Celsius.

Effect of cold wave in Himachal

The temperature in the higher reaches of Himachal Pradesh increased by three to five degrees. Due to dry weather, cold wave conditions persisted in the lower hills. Tabo was the coldest place in the state at minus 10.6 degrees Celsius at night and Shimla was the hottest place at 12.2 degrees Celsius, which was 6.5 degrees above normal. The nearby resorts of Kufri and Narkanda recorded minimum temperatures of 9.8 degrees Celsius and 6.4 degrees Celsius respectively. The minimum temperature was recorded at 0.2 degrees Celsius in Una and 0.6 degrees Celsius in Sundernagar.

Melting increased due to cold winds in UP

The weather has completely changed in Uttar Pradesh. Melting has started increasing due to north-westerly winds. There is some relief for the people in many cities due to sunshine during the day, however, the melting increases at night. Meanwhile, the day temperature was 25.2 degrees Celsius, whereas earlier on Saturday night the temperature fell by 3.9 degrees below normal to 5.5 degrees Celsius.

According to the Meteorological Department, western disturbance is becoming active. Due to its effect, the direction of winds will change from Tuesday, which will reduce the cold. There is an alert of dense fog and cold wave in many districts. There are chances of cold wave in Gonda, Shravasti, Bahraich, Lakhimpur Kheri, Barabanki, Ayodhya, Moradabad, Rampur, Bareilly, Pilibhit, Shahjahanpur. At the same time, warning of dense fog has been issued in many districts including Gorakhpur, Deoria, Mau, Ballia, Basti.

Heavy rain alert in coastal districts of Tamil Nadu

There is a possibility of heavy rain in the coastal districts of Tamil Nadu from Tuesday. In view of the weather, fishermen have also been advised to avoid going into the sea. According to information received from the Meteorological Department, the low pressure area formed in the south-east of the Bay of Bengal may become more pronounced in the next two days and may move in the west-northwest direction towards the Tamil Nadu coast, due to which from Tuesday. It may rain.

Heavy to very heavy rainfall is likely at isolated places over Cuddalore, Mayiladuthurai, Nagapattinam and Tiruvarur districts as well as Karaikal region. Apart from this, the weather department has also predicted heavy rain at isolated places in Chengalpattu, Villupuram, Kallakurichi, Ariyalur, Perambalur, Tiruchirappalli, Thanjavur and Pudukkottai districts as well as Puducherry. There may be light to moderate rain in Tamil Nadu, Puducherry and Karaikal on Wednesday.
