New Delhi: There is severe cold, cold wave and dense fog throughout North India. Visibility became extremely low due to dense fog in the national capital Delhi and NCR. In such a situation, road, rail and air traffic was affected. The Meteorological Department has issued a yellow alert for the next few days. During this period, there is also a possibility of light to moderate rain and lightning. The temperature in Jammu-Kashmir and Ladakh has gone below zero. There may be rain and hail in Rajasthan. Cold wave continues in Punjab and Haryana. ‘Kalalakkadal’ warning has been issued in coastal areas of Kerala and Tamil Nadu.

Fog havoc in Delhi-NCR

There is dense fog in Delhi-NCR amidst severe cold. The Meteorological Department has predicted light rain and drizzle along with fog. This is happening due to western disturbance. The maximum temperature in Delhi can be 19 degrees Celsius and the minimum temperature can be 9 degrees Celsius. Traffic has been badly affected by fog. Trains are running late and vehicles are crawling on the roads.

IMD issued yellow alert

Apart from Delhi, there is dense fog in Noida, Ghaziabad, Gurugram and Faridabad also. People are facing a lot of trouble due to this. Cold winds are also increasing the melting. The Meteorological Department has issued ‘Yellow Alert’ for Delhi. Delhi is expected to remain cloudy throughout the day on Thursday. There may be light rain or drizzle at some places. The maximum temperature is expected to be around 19 degrees Celsius. IMD has predicted thunder and lightning in Delhi-NCR, Uttar Pradesh, Punjab, Haryana and Chandigarh.

How will the weather be in Kashmir, UP, Bengal?

The temperature is below zero at many places in Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh. Temperatures have been recorded at 1-4 degrees Celsius in Himachal Pradesh, 4-10 degrees Celsius in northwest and central India, and 10-16 degrees Celsius in east-west India. The temperature in Madhya Pradesh has dropped by 1-5 degrees Celsius in the last 24 hours. The temperature has increased by 1-3 degrees Celsius in Uttar Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Sub-Himalayan West Bengal and Sikkim.

Alert of rain and hail in Rajasthan

Amidst the severe cold in Rajasthan, there may be light rain and hailstorm in many areas. The lowest temperature in the state was recorded at 3.8 degrees Celsius in Sangria. On January 16, there may be light rain and hailstorm with thunderstorms in Bikaner, Jaipur, Bharatpur, Ajmer and Kota divisions.

Cold wave continues in Punjab-Haryana

Cold wave continues in Punjab and Haryana. The minimum temperature recorded in Moga was 2.2 degrees Celsius. There was dense fog in Amritsar and Ludhiana also. The minimum temperature in Amritsar, Punjab was 2.8 degrees Celsius. The minimum temperature in Chandigarh was recorded at 6.9 degrees Celsius. Hisar was the coldest in Haryana, where the temperature was 3.5 degrees Celsius.

Kallakkadal warning in Kerala-Tamil Nadu

‘Kalalakkadal’ warning has been issued in coastal areas of Kerala and Tamil Nadu. In ‘Kalalakkadal’ there are sudden high waves in the sea. Waves of half to one meter high may arise in coastal areas. Kerala Disaster Management Authority has advised people to stay away from dangerous areas. People have been advised not to venture into the sea in small vessels and boats and to moor their fishing boats safely in the harbour. ‘Kalalakkadal’ means a dangerous situation arising suddenly in the sea.
