Even in Kashmir, the minimum temperature at most places has reached several degrees below the freezing point. Along with cold, fog is also increasing the problems of people in UP, Bihar and Rajasthan.

Severe cold in Delhi, mercury expected to reach 5 degrees

It is extremely cold in Delhi. According to the Meteorological Department, a temperature of 6.4 degrees Celsius was recorded in Delhi at 5.30 am on Thursday. At the same time, the minimum temperature is expected to be up to 5 degrees Celsius tomorrow i.e. 10th January. The maximum temperature is expected to be around 21 degrees Celsius.

Compared to the past few days, the temperature recorded at 5.30 am was between 8 degrees to 11 degrees Celsius. The effect of fog was also visible at some places. As the cold is increasing in Delhi, people are taking shelter in night shelters. A night shelter built on Lodhi Road looked packed.

Cold and fog increased problems in Uttar Pradesh

Cold westerly winds increased melting in Bihar

Cold wave conditions are prevailing in Bihar due to cold westerly winds. The Meteorological Department has not predicted any significant change in the situation for the next three days. According to Patna Meteorological Department, during the last 24 hours, light rain was recorded at one or two places in the northern part of the state. The weather remained dry in other places. Patna Meteorological Department has said in its forecast that the minimum temperature is expected to increase by two to three degrees during the next two days. Dense fog is likely to prevail in most districts of north-central, north-east and south-east parts of the state during the morning hours.

Mercury several points below freezing point in Kashmir

The minimum temperature at most places in Kashmir has reached several degrees below the freezing point and cold continues in the valley. The Meteorological Department said that the sky has been clear and there has been bright sunshine for the last few days, but the night temperature has dropped in most parts of the valley. Except Gulmarg in North Kashmir, the minimum temperature has dropped by several degrees in the entire valley, due to which the cold has increased in Kashmir.

Cold will increase due to snowfall

The weather department has predicted mainly dry weather over the next two days, with light rain or snowfall at isolated places on Saturday. The weather department also said that the minimum temperature is likely to drop further in the valley and cold wave is expected at different places in the coming few days. Kashmir is currently in the grip of ‘Chilla-e-Kalan’, which is the coldest period of the winter season.

Rain and hailstorm alert in Rajasthan

The people of Rajasthan have got some relief from the severe cold that has been occurring for the last few days. The minimum temperature in many areas has increased. There is a possibility of rain and hailstorm at many places in the next few days. Orange alert has been issued regarding this in six districts. According to the Meteorological Department, the state’s highest temperature was recorded in Barmer at 27.2 degrees Celsius, while the lowest temperature was recorded in Fatehpur at 3.0 degrees Celsius. The Meteorological Department has predicted light rain in Bikaner, Jaipur, Bharatpur and Ajmer on Saturday. Along with this, there is a possibility of heavy rain and hailstorm in some parts of Sikar, Churu, Jhunjhunu and Alwar on January 11.

Winter continues in Punjab and Haryana

Cold wave continued in Punjab and Haryana on Thursday and Moga recorded the lowest minimum temperature of 2.3 degrees Celsius. There was dense fog in some parts of both the states in the morning. According to the Meteorological Department report, the minimum temperature in Amritsar in Punjab was 4.8 degrees Celsius, Patiala 4.2 degrees Celsius while in Ludhiana, Pathankot, Bathinda, Faridkot and Gurdaspur districts it was 6.2 degrees, 3.3 degrees, 5 degrees, 2.6 degrees and 5 degrees respectively. Mercury is falling rapidly in Haryana

The minimum temperature was recorded at 3.1 degrees Celsius in Sonipat, Haryana. Among other places, the minimum temperature in Ambala was 7.6 degrees Celsius. Hisar, Karnal, Narnaul, Rohtak, Bhiwani and Sirsa recorded minimum temperatures of 3.5 degrees, 3.5 degrees, 4 degrees, 5.7 degrees, 4.9 degrees and 5 degrees Celsius respectively. Chandigarh, the common capital of both the states, recorded a minimum temperature of 6.1 degrees Celsius, which is two degrees below normal.

Yellow alert of cold wave and fog in 5 districts of Himachal

Shimla Meteorological Center issued a ‘yellow’ alert of cold wave, frost and dense fog at different places in five of the 12 districts of Himachal, Una, Bilaspur, Hamirpur, Kangra and Mandi. Cold wave was seen in Hamirpur, Mandi and Kangra districts while dense fog was seen in Bilaspur and Mandi. There was light fog in Kangra. A western disturbance is expected to form in north-west India from January 11 and the Meteorological Department has predicted rain and snowfall at some places on Saturday and Sunday.
