New Delhi: As the month of December progresses, the effect of cold is beginning to be felt. Talking about Kashmir, a drop in temperature was recorded there. The minimum temperature remained below the freezing point at most places. According to the Meteorological Department, due to the forecast of dry weather, there is a possibility of further drop in temperature in the coming days. This means that the mercury is going down rapidly in Kashmir Valley. In such a situation, the minimum temperature may fall further on Thursday, 5th December. In Delhi-NCR too, pink cold has started being felt in the morning and evening. Know the latest updates regarding the weather.

Pink cold in Delhi-NCR

First of all, if we talk about Delhi-NCR, the weather here seems clear right now. Similar weather is expected for the next few days. The sun has been shining since morning. However, the effect of strong wind was also visible on Wednesday. People are feeling the effect of pink cold due to light fog during night and morning. It has become necessary to wear a jacket and sweater especially for people riding a bike. According to IMD, no significant change is expected in the weather even on Thursday.

Improvement in Delhi’s air quality

The air quality in Delhi improved significantly on Wednesday and the air quality index (AQI) was recorded at 211. It falls in the ‘medium’ category. The AQI in the national capital on Tuesday was 268, which falls in the ‘poor’ category. According to the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB), AQI was recorded at 211 at 8 am on Wednesday. Delhi’s air quality has seen continuous improvement this week and the AQI here was 273 on Monday while it was 285 on Sunday.

The Meteorological Department said that the minimum temperature recorded in Delhi on Wednesday night was 12 degrees Celsius, which is 2.5 degrees Celsius more than the average temperature of this season. The Meteorological Department has predicted light fog during the day tomorrow i.e. Thursday and the maximum temperature will reach 27 degrees Celsius.

Mercury below 0 degrees in Kashmir

Cold has started showing its effect in Jammu and Kashmir. According to the Meteorological Department, the mercury was recorded below zero in the valley. Officials said that except Kokernag, all other weather stations in Kashmir valley recorded the night temperature below zero. The minimum temperature in Srinagar was recorded at minus 2 degrees Celsius, down from minus 1.8 degrees Celsius on Tuesday night. Qazigund recorded a minimum temperature of minus 2.2 degrees Celsius.

The minimum temperature in Pahalgam was minus 4.8 degrees Celsius, three degrees less than the previous night. The minimum temperature in the famous ski resort of Gulmarg was minus 3.5 degrees Celsius and in Kupwara it was minus 1.2 degrees Celsius, while in Kokernag it was 0.4 degrees Celsius.

How will the weather be in the next three days?

IMD said the weather will remain generally dry for the next three days. The night temperature will drop further. However, the day temperature is expected to remain hot. The Meteorological Department said that from the night of December 8 to the morning of December 9, there is a possibility of light rain or light snowfall at isolated places in the higher reaches.

Rain in many parts of Karnataka

Where the mercury has gone below zero in Kashmir. On the other hand, heavy rain was seen in many areas of Karnataka. Rain continued on Tuesday due to the impact of cyclone ‘Fangal’ at various places, especially along the coast, Malnad and south interior areas. Its impact was also visible in Dakshina Kannada, Kodagu, Chamarajanagar, Udupi, Mysuru and Chikkaballapur districts.

IMD has predicted partly cloudy sky and light rain in Bengaluru and its surrounding areas tomorrow i.e. Thursday. The maximum and minimum temperatures are expected to be around 25 degrees Celsius and 20 degrees Celsius respectively. IMD has warned of heavy rain at some places in Dakshina Kannada, Udupi and Chikkamagaluru districts.

Chances of rain in these areas

Light to moderate rain is likely over most places over Uttara Kannada and at a few places over Gadag, Haveri, Raichur, Yadgir, Dharwad, Kodagu, Hassan, Shivamogga, Mysuru, Mandya, Chitradurga and Ballari districts. There is a possibility of light to moderate rain with thunderstorms at these places till December 8.

How will the weather be in UP-Bihar?

The weather patterns in the country are gradually changing. The effect of dense fog is visible in many states. Rainy season is being seen in the states of South India. Currently, the sun is shining during the day in nearby states including Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Rajasthan. The effect of cold is definitely visible in the morning and evening. Dense fog has also started falling in many areas. According to the Meteorological Department, after December 15, the mercury will fall further in many states of North India including Delhi. After this, there is a possibility of increase in cold.
