Today’s weather and AQI 30 December 2024: The entire North India including Delhi is currently suffering from severe cold. The cold winds that blow throughout the day are leaving shivers. Only bonfires with thick quilts in homes are able to provide relief. The continuous rain in the last two days has changed the weather. Fog in the morning and late night is also troubling. The Meteorological Department has not issued a rain warning but has definitely said that the mercury will go down further in the new year. Let’s take a look at the weather of the day.

Let’s start from Delhi

The absence of sunlight in the capital for the last three days has become a problem for the general public. Due to continuous drop in temperature, people remained shivering throughout the day. Despite the sun shining briefly on Sunday, people had to resort to heaters and bonfires to escape the cold. According to the Meteorological Department, there will be dense fog at most places on Monday. Very dense fog may also be seen in some areas. However, the sky will remain clear. The maximum temperature is likely to be 18 degrees Celsius and the minimum temperature is 9 degrees Celsius. There is a possibility of moderate to dense fog on 31st December and 1st January. The sky will be clear. The maximum temperature is likely to be 18 to 19 degrees Celsius and the minimum temperature is likely to be 7 to 8 degrees Celsius. After this, fog will remain of moderate category from January 2 to 4. The maximum temperature is likely to be around 20 degrees Celsius and the minimum temperature is likely to be 9 to 11 degrees Celsius.

How will the weather be in Punjab-Haryana today?
Let’s talk about Punjab-Haryana, the states adjacent to Delhi. There will be dense to very dense fog in Punjab today. For today, the Meteorological Department has also declared orange alert for cold wave. Apart from this, cold wave along with fog will also disturb on the morning of 31st December. The situation will remain like this till January 2. Talking about Haryana, today here too there will be dense fog in the morning. Apart from this, cold winds can be troublesome. In the new year, the cold wave will make people shiver.

How will the situation be in the hilly states?
After snowfall in the hilly areas of Jammu and Kashmir, the joy of celebration has doubled for the people who went to celebrate the New Year. In Srinagar, Kupwara, Gulmarg, Sonmarg the mercury will go to minus even today, it can go down to -9 degrees today. Jammu and Kashmir government has deployed staff and machinery to restore services following heavy snowfall. Traffic services have been restored after snowfall the previous day. The snowfall, considered one of the heaviest in recent times, began on Friday evening and continued on Saturday.

Talking about Uttarakhand, the weather is likely to remain clear in Uttarakhand for the next four days. After the rain and snowfall in the state for the last few days, the weather is now going to be dry. According to the Meteorological Department, there is no possibility of rain or snowfall anywhere during this period. Due to dry weather, people will get some relief from the severe cold in the state. However, the cold effect will persist as the temperature continues to drop at night. Talking about Himachal Pradesh, dense fog can cause trouble in the morning and evening from today till January 2. The Meteorological Department has expressed the possibility of snowfall and rain continuing for the next 24 hours.

The weather has changed in Uttar Pradesh also after the rains. The weather is likely to remain clear in Uttar Pradesh in the coming days. However, due to fog, the cold wave will continue. It is extremely cold in the state these days. The sun was not visible in the capital Lucknow on Sunday and it was cold throughout the day. According to the Meteorological Department, a further drop in the minimum temperature may be recorded in the coming days. This means that the nights are going to get even colder.

Talking about Rajasthan, the Meteorological Department has predicted severe cold and a significant drop in the minimum temperature today and in the coming days. Visibility may also be reduced due to dense fog in many cities including Jaipur on Sunday morning. The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a warning of severe cold wave in many parts of Bihar. According to IMD, cold wave conditions may prevail in various areas of the state from December 29 to January 1, 2025. It may become more severe in some parts on 30th and 31st December.
