Rain will increase problems in Delhi

After two days, there was slight relief from cold in the capital Delhi on Wednesday. Sunshine was seen during the day. But the Meteorological Department has again predicted partly cloudy sky in Delhi today and light rain in the evening. According to IMD, the maximum temperature in Delhi today is expected to be 23 degrees and the minimum temperature will be 7 degrees Celsius. Meteorologists have predicted dense fog in the capital late night and morning on 25, 26 and 28 December.

Severe cold in Kashmir, water pipeline frozen

The minimum temperature has dropped at most places in Kashmir and severe cold continues in the valley due to which many reservoirs and water supply lines have frozen in many areas. The weather office has predicted a drop of two to three degrees Celsius in the minimum temperature in Kashmir in the next two days. Except Gulmarg, all other weather stations in Kashmir valley recorded a drop in night temperatures. Kashmir valley is currently going through the phase of ‘Chilla-e-Kalan’ which started from 21st December. During this period there is severe cold for 40 days.

More than 200 roads closed due to snowfall in Himachal Pradesh

Snowfall has also increased the problems in the hilly areas of Himachal Pradesh. Officials said that 226 roads including three national highways have been closed due to snowfall in Himachal Pradesh. Maximum 123 roads are closed in Shimla district, 36 in Lahaul and Spiti and 25 in Kullu. Apart from this, 173 transformers were disrupted affecting power supply across the state. The weather office has forecast rain and snowfall at isolated places in some parts of the state, especially Shimla, from Friday evening to Sunday afternoon.

Dense fog, cold wave continues in Rajasthan

Many areas of Rajasthan remained covered with dense fog on Wednesday and cold conditions persisted in the state. In the last 24 hours, light rain occurred at one place in East Rajasthan while fog and dense fog occurred at many places. ‘Cold day’ recorded at some places in western Rajasthan. According to the Meteorological Center, Jaipur, due to a new western disturbance becoming active from December 26, there is a possibility of light to moderate rain with thunderstorms in some parts of Udaipur, Ajmer, Kota, Jaipur, Bharatpur and Bikaner divisions. The maximum impact of the Western Disturbance is expected to be on December 27 and it is expected to cause thunder, rain and hailstorm at isolated places in some parts.

Mercury below 5 degrees in Punjab Haryana

According to the Meteorological Department, cold conditions prevailed in Punjab and Haryana on Wednesday and the minimum temperature in Faridkot was recorded at 4.2 degrees Celsius. Weather department officials said that after two days of rain due to western disturbance, the weather remained clear across Uttar Pradesh on Wednesday afternoon. According to the weather department forecast, the weather is expected to remain clear on Thursday before the rains resume from December 27.
