The weather office has predicted the formation of a low pressure area over the west-central Bay of Bengal on Tuesday, which may cause rain in some states on the east coast. The Indian Meteorological Department has predicted very heavy to extremely heavy rains in coastal and interior areas of North Karnataka, Maharashtra, Goa, central, east and north-east India during the coming week.

Delhi: Hope for relief from rain today

People who have been facing heat for the last two days in Delhi can get relief. According to the regional weather forecast agency, the sky will remain cloudy in Delhi today. At the same time, there may be light drizzle at some places. According to the Meteorological Department, the maximum temperature in Delhi today is likely to be around 36 degrees Celsius and the minimum temperature is likely to be around 26 degrees Celsius. Also, the main surface wind is likely to blow from the east / south-east direction at a speed of eight to 12 km per hour.

Himachal: There will be rain in some districts including Shimla

The weather in Himachal Pradesh has remained mainly dry for the last three days. However, the local meteorological department has issued a warning of heavy rain in Shimla, Solan and Sirmaur districts on Wednesday. Along with this, a ‘yellow’ alert has also been issued for thunderstorm and lightning at isolated places in six out of 12 districts of the state on Wednesday and Thursday. The Meteorological Department said on Tuesday that there was a 21 percent decrease in rain in the current monsoon season from June 1 to September 24 and Himachal Pradesh received 573.70 mm of rain against the normal 723.10 millimetres (mm).

Mumbai: Heavy rain predicted today

The weather department has issued an orange alert for Mumbai on Wednesday. Rain has started intensifying in the metropolis since Monday. From 8.30 am on Monday to 8.30 pm on Tuesday, the suburbs received 75 mm of rain and the city received 16 mm of rain. Apart from Mumbai, an orange alert has been issued for Thane, Palghar and a red alert for Raigad on Wednesday. Due to the system formed in the Bay of Bengal, heavy rain is expected in Mumbai and its surrounding areas.

West Bengal: Be prepared to get wet

Due to the low pressure area formed over the Bay of Bengal, light to moderate rain is expected at most places in West Bengal while heavy rain is expected in some areas during the next two or three days. The Meteorological Center gave this information on Tuesday. The Meteorological Department has also warned of landslides in sensitive areas of Darjeeling and Kalimpong districts. The Meteorological Department said that due to the low pressure area, heavy rain is expected in many districts of South Bengal till September 26 and in North Bengal by the next day.

Heavy rain predicted in Odisha

Heavy rains are likely at most places in 20 districts of Odisha for the next few days due to the influence of a low pressure area formed over the Bay of Bengal. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) gave this information on Tuesday. The Meteorological Department has predicted torrential rain (7-11 cm) with thunderstorms at isolated places in 20 districts of the state on Wednesday. The IMD said in a bulletin that under the influence of cyclonic circulation over central Bay of Bengal, a low pressure area has formed over west-central Bay of Bengal and adjoining northwest north Andhra Pradesh and south Odisha coasts.
