Cyclone ‘Dana’ likely to cause heavy rain in South Bengal

Due to the cyclonic storm ‘Dana’ formed in the east-central Bay of Bengal, heavy rains are expected in many districts of South Bengal including Kolkata. Eastern and South Eastern Railways canceled operations of more than 150 trains on October 24 and 25 in view of the cyclone. The Meteorological Department said that the cyclone is likely to hit the coast between Bhitarkanika National Park and Dhamra port in Odisha early Friday and winds can reach a speed of 120 kilometers per hour. It said that at 8.30 am on Wednesday the cyclone was 520 km south-east of Paradip and 600 km south-southeast of Sagar Island. The Meteorological Department has warned of heavy to very heavy rainfall at isolated places in North and South 24 Parganas, East and West Medinipur, Jhargram, Kolkata, Howrah and Hooghly districts of South Bengal on October 24 and 25.

Storm forecast for 5 days in Andhra Pradesh

There is a possibility of rain and thundershowers in some parts of Andhra Pradesh from October 23 for the next five days. IMD gave this information on Wednesday. The Meteorological Department said that there is a possibility of rain and thundershowers in isolated parts of North Coastal Andhra Pradesh (NCAP) and Yanam between October 23 and 27. While issuing the weather forecast for October 25, the Meteorological Department said in a release, ‘There is a possibility of heavy rain at isolated places over North Coastal Andhra Pradesh and Yanam.’ There is a possibility of rain and thundershowers in some parts of Rayalaseema on October 23 and 24. According to the Meteorological Department, cyclonic storm ‘Dana’ in the East Central Bay of Bengal has moved towards the north-west direction and is present in the same area about 520 km south-east of Paradip, Odisha.

Possibility of heavy rain in Bihar also

The weather is going to change once again in Bihar. Due to the cyclonic storm ‘Dana’ active in the Bay of Bengal, there may be light to moderate rain with strong winds in many districts including East Bihar between October 24 and 26. The effect of this storm will be seen in 13 districts of the state. It will affect many districts including Bhagalpur, Banka, Munger, Sheikhpura, Jehanabad, Nalanda, Lakhisarai, Purnia, Katihar, Kishanganj. The Meteorological Department has advised people to remain alert.
