Today’s weather 17 October 2024: Cold has knocked across North India including Delhi-NCR. Whereas in Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Uttarakhand, Haryana and Punjab, cold has increased in the morning and evening and light fog has also started appearing. It is a biting cold at night. You will feel cold in the morning and evening. From today till October 21, the maximum temperature in Delhi will be around 33 to 34 degrees and the minimum temperature will be around 16 to 17 degrees. On the other hand, rainy season continues in South India. It is still raining in South Indian states like Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, Kerala and Andhra Pradesh, somewhere heavy and somewhere light. The Meteorological Department has issued a rain alert for many states. Apart from Andhra Pradesh, there has been a warning of rain in metropolitan cities like Bengaluru and Chennai.

Heavy rain in Chennai, Bengaluru

Due to heavy rains in Chennai and other places in Tamil Nadu, life became completely disrupted. From the colonies to the roads there was knee-deep waterlogging. From road to train and air transport systems broke down. Many trains and flights had to be cancelled. The Meteorological Department has warned of heavy rain in the state for the next two days. According to the Meteorological Department, there is a possibility of rain in other northern districts including Ranipet and Vellore till Thursday. Chennai and its neighboring districts may also receive heavy rain on Thursday.

Orange alert in two districts of Kerala

The Meteorological Department on Wednesday issued an ‘Orange Alert’ for two districts of Kerala – North Malappuram and Kannur, predicting very heavy rainfall. The department issued a ‘yellow alert’ predicting heavy rain in ten districts of the state – Pathanamthitta, Alappuzha, Kottayam, Idukki, Ernakulam, Thrissur, Palakkad, Kozhikode, Wayanad and Kasaragod. Intermittent rain accompanied by strong winds and thunderstorm occurred in many parts of Kerala on Wednesday. There is a possibility of rain even today.
