Dense fog in Delhi
There is dense fog in Delhi-NCR since Wednesday morning. The temperature is also very low and people have to resort to bonfires to escape the cold. The Meteorological Department has predicted partly cloudy sky in Delhi today. IMD says that there is a possibility of fog or light fog in most areas of the capital on Wednesday and moderate fog at some places. According to the Meteorological Department, the wind speed in Delhi is expected to increase to 14 to 18 kilometers per hour on Wednesday afternoon and by evening it will gradually reduce to less than 8 kilometers per hour. Today the maximum temperature is expected to be 17 and the minimum temperature will be 8 degree Celsius.
Cold wave intensified in Kashmir, mercury dropped to minus 11 degrees
Cold has become a problem for the people in Kashmir valley. The minimum temperature in Gulmarg, a tourist spot famous for ‘skiing’ in Kashmir, was recorded at minus 11.5 degrees Celsius. The Meteorological Department has predicted light snowfall on the first day of the new year and moderate snowfall later. The department said, ‘Due to the western disturbance passing through here on January 1 and 2, there are chances of light snowfall at some places. Due to its impact, moderate to heavy snowfall may occur from January 3 to 6, while heavy snowfall is expected at various places on January 4 to 6.

Cold wave in most districts of UP
At least 50 districts of Uttar Pradesh recorded a drop of more than five degrees Celsius in the maximum temperature. According to the Meteorological Department, there is a possibility of severe cold continuing in UP even today. The minimum temperature was recorded at 13 degrees Celsius. According to the department, the day and night temperatures dropped significantly due to cloudy sky and day temperature being around 15 degrees Celsius.
Severe cold in Haryana and Punjab
Cold wave continues in most areas in Haryana and Punjab. The temperature in both the states remains below normal. The Meteorological Department has expressed the possibility of cold wave even today. Dense fog has been prevalent in many districts of Haryana since morning.
Mercury will fall in Jharkhand also
The temperature in Jharkhand is expected to drop by three to five degrees Celsius within the next two days. The Meteorological Department said that preparations to welcome the New Year are in full swing in the state and meanwhile, cold winds along with dense fog are expected in some areas.
