Today is the last day of the election Maha Kumbh, voting will take place on 57 seats in the seventh phase, seats of many bigwigs are also at stake


New Delhi: Voting for the last phase of the seven-phase Lok Sabha elections will be held on Saturday. In the last phase of the world’s longest marathon election process, voting will be held for 57 Lok Sabha seats in eight states. 904 candidates are in the fray in this phase. After the voting in all seven phases is over, the counting of votes will be done on June 4. The commission has completed preparations for this. The Election Commission of India said that in the final phase, votes will be cast for all 13 Lok Sabha seats of Punjab, four of Himachal Pradesh and one of Chandigarh. Apart from these, voting will be held for the remaining eight seats of Bihar, three of Jharkhand, five of Odisha, 13 of Uttar Pradesh and the remaining nine seats of West Bengal. For the final phase, a maximum of 598 nomination papers were filed for 13 seats of Punjab. After this, 495 nomination papers were received for 13 seats of UP, 73 from Jehanabad seat of Bihar and 70 from Ludhiana seat of Punjab. Now an average of 16 candidates are trying their luck on all the seats for this phase. So far, voting has been done for 486 out of 543 Lok Sabha seats in six phases. Voting has also ended in 28 out of 36 states and union territories.

In the last phase of the Lok Sabha elections, the Election Commission of India is trying its best to ensure that the voting is conducted in a peaceful manner like the previous six phases. Looking at the mercury level, there is a possibility of less voting. Therefore, the CEO office of every state has made adequate arrangements at the polling stations to protect not only the voters but also the election officials from the heat. The effort is to ensure that no one gets affected by the scorching heat. So far, the percentage of voting in every phase has been less than in 2019. In this last phase, the commission will try to ensure maximum voting.

Talking about the big faces in the seventh phase of elections, the biggest name is that of PM Narendra Modi, who is contesting from Varanasi seat of UP for the third consecutive time. The fate of many big names including actress Kangana Ranaut, Union Minister Anurag Thakur, Mahendra Nath Pandey, RK Singh, Pankaj Chaudhary, Anupriya Patel, former Union Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad, Ramkripal Yadav, Pratap Chandra Sarangi, Upendra Kushwaha and Ravi Kishan will be decided in the voting on Saturday.
